Jim’s original description “fencing, fighting, revenge, escapes, true love, miracles” has to be “The Princess Bride” - no idea on the character descriptions.
I wonder if the character descriptions are supposed to refer to “The Dam Busters” - main character was a non-medical doctor, 2 pilots, one of whom had completed 170 missions by the time of the movie. No idea on the nurse though. And it would definitely explain Ben’s “Mmm. Very subtle”, since of course the entire Death Star attack is based on that movie.
Ben can’t be referring to the Death Star attack, since that hasn’t happened in their campaign yet. Rather, he’s referring to the fights he and Sally (his younger sister) had over him being in medical school just to make his parents happy, even though he didn’t really want to be a doctor.
Now that you point that out, it’s obvious, but it managed to go over my head when I was reading it. I thought he was just saying having two pilots and two medics was a not very subtle commentary on Jim’s GMing style.
