Could you quote exactly what it was that I said that might have offended him? After he posted his version of the urban legend (which was true, of course, according to him), I posted a simple one-line message harkening back to the Mormon thread (see what I mean about it all being related?), saying: “And he flamed Mormons for believing in unproven BS… Amazing!” Other folks started commenting that he should go into personal attack mode soon. His response was right on target – a personal attack: “David you disgust me. Leave me alone, this is a demand not a request. I choose not to be found in the company of such a lowly heel biter. I’ll refrain from comment on you, you do the same in regards to me.”
So, can you please explain to me what I said to him in that thread that was deserving of his response?
Yes, because there is no way to turn it off. That shows my board “level.” When I am posting in official duties, I make sure it is obvious.
I was no more abrasive than the situation called for. As I noted earlier, N/A was looking to start a fight. I think he tried to start one earlier in the Boy Scout thread, when I thanked him for some info he posted. He immediately assumed it was sarcasm. He is true to the form of the other trolls posted here already (Lurker007, FormerAgent, The Finder, MikeylikesIt, GigoloMan, and any others I might have left off the list) and is almost certainly the same person (as is Formerposter – I don’t know how anybody could say otherwise!). He saw that his former tactic of just jumping on me wasn’t working and switched to a slightly different one of waiting a little while before jumping me. But as before, his true personality came through.
As to the Mormonism thread, David, you were quite correct that I had nothing to apologize to Newt for. I did it anyway in hopes of calming him down and getting some real reasons for his anti-LDS spew. It hasn’t happened, and I now assume it won’t.
Don’t know what I expected, really. Another c&p from a rabid fundie site, perhaps.
I think you’re right, there, andros, since Newt’s been banned. (By TubaDiva, I think.) I suppose formerposter could always speak up on his behalf, but I find it improbable.
It’s even nicer to see a bunch of questions posted and then answered by others before I have a chance to see the questions! Saves me the time and effort!
Andros: I know your heart was in the right place, but as the saying goes, once you pull the pin, Mr. Grenade is not your friend. Well, N/A’s pin had been pulled and there was no going back. He went ballistic (to mix a metaphor) and wasn’t stopping for anything.
Not to put words into David B.'s mouth, but I believe that David B. meant ‘should’ in terms of “he was likely to” rather than ‘should’ as in “it was in his best interest to”.
Just want to give credit where credit is due- the only person who thought a personal attack would be a good idea is N/A, and N/A alone.
BTW- Danny: while you’re going over your thesis for Glitch, mind taking a crack at my rebuttal? I’m still kind of confused as to what question you wanted me to debate…

Newton’s sole reason for joining this board under that name was to get into a fight with David. He must have seen some previous posts that challenged, or even flamed, David. He thought that he could start a flame and have some of the regs support him.
When this didn’t happen, a couple of sock puppets tried to fan the flames. And that’s when I got mad.
Now I’m just disgusted.
