What makes you think I have only read a few threads? I did say I read the headlight thread, and almost all of this one, but I wasn’t suggesting they are the only threads I’ve read.
I am not taking any users or moderators “to task” as you say. I questioned DavidB. simply from what the moderator applications say. If I am out of line, I give David absolute permission to tell me so without me taking offense. You, however, can go to hell you fucker.
You know nothing about me, what I know, or what I’ve read on this message board. And I think you are a presumptuous asshole for thinking you do. It seems to have gotten your panties right up in a bunch for danny and I to disagree with you by stating that we felt that NA had a bit of a reason to be upset.
Rather than question our arguments or statements, you instead make assumptions about us and say we are too new or stupid to make any rational observations. Well if you can’t be a mature debater, then I won’t be either. So fuck you and the horse you rode in on. Asshole.

When putting on his moderator hat, DavidB, from what I have seen for the past month, has been polite in his posts.
DavidB is also a poster as an individual and in that capacity is no more ascerbic than others that post. Perhaps he should post under another name so those that don’t understand what [moderator hat on/off] means.

SINsApple and Dannyboy99, I’m not going to wade back into those messes to see the exact posting order of the hostility between N A and DavidB, but I came to a completely different conclusion about N A based on several recent threads. In the last couple of days, he has launched a number of unprovoked attacks on different people. (His idiot hatred in the thread on Mormonism is truly striking, but his attacks in several other posts have been nearly as stupid.)
His pattern of nastiness was pretty consistent.
- Post something either easily proven wrong or hate-filled.
- Be corrected (usually not in a nasty way) or be challenged to back up his assertions.
- React by impugning the character of the challenger, (avoiding any presentation of evidence), then immediately get into a name-calling contest.
I don’t know which thread you think this all started on, but there is ample evidence on six threads that I have seen (excludes this thread) that N A is a hostile jerk. (David only posted to two of the six, BTW.)

Danny, I’m afraid we’re going to have to agree to disagree, here.
I look over what N/A has written (specifically, the Mormonism thread, the Headlights thread, the “High! I’m _____” thread, the “I’m so embarrassed” thread, and the “Breast Enlargement” thread) and I see a very hyper-defensive person. Slightly joking material, or general joshing, or attacks upon his poorly stated/documented position invariably caused N/A to have a minor case of apoloplexy and wax wroth against Frankie, against Satan, against andros, and against David B.
Other people may have pushed N/A past the breaking point, but I feel that:
[ul][li]N/A encouraged them by being antagonistic towards them; fighting fire with fire begets return fire.[/li][li]N/A’s breaking point was infentesemal in relation to the average poster’s, and things an overwhelming majority of posters take in stride caused N/A to return with violent reactions.[/li][li]N/A had yet to prove himself by posting accurate information to GQ or GD before jumping into starting threads in MPSIMS and relating urban legends in GQ, which makes it hard for people to take him particularly seriously.[/ul][/li]
I don’t think anyone but N/A did anything particularly wrong.
Oh, and Wally- that was a bit over the edge. Get some bed rest, friend.

Okay, a little clarification if I may. How, exactly, do you consider what happened to Newt (or whoever in hell it was) to be a crucifixion? He posted to several threads, some of which I have gone to the trouble of reading, and for the most part seemed an amiable enough guy. I didn’t agree with most of what he was saying, but he didn’t seem to come unglued until he discovered the “Mormonism” thread. That was when he took it upon himself to be the one, sole distributor of The Truth©, then he was called on it. Just as anyone else has been who acted in the same fashion. Then, he discovered the “Flashing Headlights” thread, and his meltdown happened in a truly spectacular fashion. He was confronted, and challenged to provide proof of the allegations that he was making. Then he started to threaten and get ugly, and subsequently got his sorry ass banned.
So, the way I see it, he was just some poster, then he was a jerk, then he was a bigger jerk, then he became a threatening jerk, and finally he was a former jerk. I don’t see how you can consider him to have been unfairly persecuted.

My adventures this side (motioning East) of the Chatahoochee (sp) have just begun. I am here doing research on OCS programs at Ft. Benning. I am attempting to decide my future through observation. I am originally from San Dimas, Ca. I worked for the State with the Department of Transportation and New Technology. Trying to figure out where my degrees will take me these days. Okay, I never said Newton wasn’t an asshole. I have not in fact read the mormon thread, but from what I hear he is pretty dickheaded in there. But I was never defending him for what he said in those threads, only how he reacted to David in the headlights thread.
I simply thought he had reason, in the headlights thread, to be a bit offended by David’s posts. The thread wasn’t in the Pit, and therefore, it seemed a bit out of place for David to say what he did.
Onesheep, you are right, I wasn’t aware that David could post independantly from his moderator status. As a matter of fact, I am still skeptical of that. Every post of his that I have seen lists him as moderator. But you say it is true, so I will keep that in mind.
So please people, desist telling me what a jerk NA is. I have never argued that he isn’t; as a matter of fact, I have come to agree that he too is caustic and childish.

Let me go on the record by saying that anyone offended by DavidB’s corrections must be very thin-skinned and quick to anger. I say that as someone who’s been corrected by him a time or two. It stung a little but I got over it. I suggest others do so as well. As I stated on another thread, “If learning didn’t sometimes hurt, some of us would never learn anything at all.”

I just don’t buy that you’ve been lurking since November and suddenly decide to post here based on the injustices suffered by NA.
You’ve gotten hostile pretty quick.
You seem to be creating an aplogia for Newton. In your post to Bricker with the “his facts died with his screen name” and “his ego won’t allow him to be beaten by you” comments you show an amazing amount of empathy.
Additionally your assertion that it wasn’t the “Real Newton” posting today seems to indicate some intimate knowledge of him and his motivations.
Oddly enough, I’ve noticed this pattern before.

If I’m wrong I apologize, but I don’t think I am.
I am in absolutely no danger from this person. He is completely incapable of acting out any of his plans. And he is completely incapable of generating even the remotest amount of fear in me, or likely anybody else.
Deep inside he is completely locked up and a coward, unable to act. His delusions allow him the freedom to believe that his is winning, and will always win.
The non-specifity of his threats is another key indicator that he really isn’t planning anything (of course, to prove me wrong he will now probably post something specific).
Also, he is still posting. If he was truly interested in taking action he would have done so. Violent people don’t post that they are going to come and find you, they just do (they might make a single statement to that effect).
No, his attachment is to the fight itself. Violent criminals want defenseless creatures as prey. His instincts tell him that he is completely outmatched.
This individual believes deep down that he is worthless. This may be why he is a theist , in fact. He could very well be looking for the “we are all scum” of theism to support his view.
In any event, he is incapable of looking somebody dead in the eye and seeing himself as capable over them and hence unable of doing anything to them. This is why he seeks conflict over the Internet. Real violent criminals rarely confine themselves to the Internet instead seeking real prey.
Ultimately, what it comes down to is this. This guy is no threat, and I won’t allow him any power over me by affecting how I participate on this board.
You know what? David B. can be ascerbic, sarcastic, patronizing, and aggravating. Is he always that way? No. Is he also smart, articulate, and rational? Generally, yes. But for someone (even a newbie) to point out that he can be ascerbic hardly justifies jumping down the newbie’s throat or calling him (or her) a troll – a epithet that seems to be whipped out at the drop of a hat around here lately. And, NO, I’m not talking about N/A, whose posts, including the one beginning this thread, can’t be justified. But let’s not act like Danny’s mild aside that David CAN be ascerbic isn’t a view that’s widely held around here. Hey, as a criticism, you could do a lot worse.
Pointing out that Not Applicable’s beef might have an infintesimal grain of truth to it hardly makes one an apologist for his rampant fruit-cakedness. Can’t we all just relax a tad?

I merely attempt to show what BOTH sides of the fence are like. I am obviously not the only one to note this though. You seem rather abrasive too. I watched his interaction with your hedgehog threads for a while and laughed. You seemed friendly enough there. Et Tu Brute? I heard this in another form said by Newton in the headlights thread. Sad dont you think? That rather than refrain from further damaging another fellow human being you would strike.

It seems his tactics have gotten a little more subtle in the game.
