Davy Jones passes away

My first crush.

:frowning:

Last time I heard an interview with him, he kept boasting about his 20-something-year-old girlfriend.

RIP Daydream Believer

Very sad. Marcia’s going to have to start crushing on Desi Jr. again.

I met Davy once when he stayed at the hotel I worked at in the early 90’s. He was a real jerk to the staff, but even so - I’m quite bummed out by the news of his death.

I was a Beatles fan as a teen in the 80s, but am a fan of “Your Personal Penguin” now. :frowning:

He was such a cutie back in the day. Also a child star as The Artful Dodger in Oliver!.

Have they said what the cause of death is? (I know he was a major league drinker.) Even so, sixty-six is too young, BUT he got to work in a lot of his dreams, such as the huge comeback in the 1980s and horse breeding.

Davy Jones will be buried at sea, in his locker. The body will be transported to the docks via rail, probably on the Last Train to Clarksville. Services will be this weekend. It will be a Pleasant Valley Sunday. Everyone is invited. So we can all be Daydream Believers together.

Awwwwww. Sad :frowning: I can’t believe one of the Monkees is gone.

**Sampiro ** Initial reports are saying he had a massive heart attack in his sleep.

Man, that’s sad. The Monkees’ Greatest Hits is pretty much a must-have album for anybody.

Count me in as another whose first crush was Davy (then, even at 12 I realized I was going to grow up to be taller than him and switched to Micky). Got into the Monkees during the 80s revival when all my friends were drooling over New Kids on the Block and such. And now I find out he was only a year older than my mother, and that makes me even more sad.

RIP Davy Jones. You were a great entertainer.

I was expecting this one, which is also a Nilsson song.

USA Today said it was a “massive heart attack” in his sleep. Which would be surprising for someone who seemed to be so fit at his age. Of course, the alcohol abuse would explain it.

Very sad.
I know there were vague plans for The Monkees to perhaps return together and do a long-term show here in Las Vegas.

Didn’t they have a tour planned for last year, which was suddenly cancelled without explanation?

You are an evil, evil man.

I knew I liked you. >_>

'S a pity. He wasn’t my favourite Monkee (that bounces back and forth between Peter and Mickey with Mike picking up third place), but I like 'em all, so it’s sad to see him go.

66 isn’t that old! And he was so little. Smaller people always last longer than bigger people. How sad.

He was the reason Chekov was added to the Star Trek cast-- they wanted a “Davy Jones type” in the crew.

I was all set to correct you to Jack Wild (also dead … at 53!), but you meant on the stage, right? In the movie, it was Jack Wild, but Davy Jones played the role on stage for a time. According to Wikipedia, which I’ve just been perusing, Jones died of a heart attack.

I was reminded on Twitter than Davy Jones is also the reason that singer David R. Jones decided he needed a stage name. He picked David Bowie. Funny the effects that stuff like that can have on pop culture.
