Is the girl on skates the same girl who bites the guy the next morning? The nurse asks her to say, “Hi” to her mom, so she’s not their daughter, and they don’t show another girl who could be their daughter, yet they don’t seem too concerned that a neighbor is in their house. (Which would be the least of their problems.)
Just a nagging question I’ve had. Loved the movie, BTW. I was on the set at the filming of Night of the Living Dead (I was only two – my family’s camp was nearby I and barely remember it) but have always loved zombie pics.
I guess they didn’t have time to be concerned. The husband woke up and seemed to think it was unusual that she was there however seeing her bloodied up like that put such concerns aside.
It’s not prevelant in all locals, but in some nice tight nit communities, it’s not all that uncommon for some kids to form a friendship with their parent’s friends and nieghbors, especially if they’re young. From the conversation they had, it’s apparent that they do things together (like rollerskating), so it may not be all that uncommon for the girl to come over Saturday morning and watch cartoons with her nieghbors. They’re a young, childless couple, so they get experience, can have some fun, and the girl’s parents get a free babysitter out of the deal. My guess was there wasn’t any real shock because it was a common occurrance for the little girl to come over in the mornings to “play”. The confusion came more when he saw she was still in her nightgown, and then when she wouldn’t respond and was covered in blood, fear that something happened to her or her parents.
