Tonight, Hopper finds out more about his partner and her problems with I.A.
Can anyone provide a recap of last week’s ep? I saw (and really enjoyed) the pilot, but my DVR crapped out for the 2nd one, and I’d prefer not to go into tonight’s show cold.
Thanks!
Wow, that was a damned good episode. Is the whole Groundhog Day thing starting to bleed over, what with Andrea feeling different and the new thing happening with her calling Hopper? If so, he’d better be careful what sort of trouble he gets into as he may not wake up to be at the beginning again…
Can someone recap the last couple of minutes? The EBS broke in on our signal for a time for a tornado watch warning (what, a scrolling message on the bottom wasn’t good enough?). Brett was driving Andrea and Eddy to the rehab place when Eddy found the photo, said he was the first cop on the scene, and…? By the time our signal came back, Brett was examining the hourglass very closely. It was only about 30 seconds missed, but damn it, it looked like something important was about to be revealed.
Eddie also said something about Brett’s dad being there. Brett seemed surprised. Eddie then said something about the case being unsolved because of some evidence going missing, and how you never know what could be really important in a case. Brett was thinking about Eddie’s words, and then it cut to Brett getting the package.
Also, I don’t know if you noticed, but when Brett was examining the hourglass very closely, you could see a very distinct fingerprint on the side, so I guess that’s something to do with why he was sent the hourglass.
Didn’t see your post before the show, but here is a pretty good summary of the last episode.
Thanks for the recap. I did notice and, given what Eddie said, I would surmise it ties in to the missing evidence.
I may have missed this in an earlier discussion, but I wonder what are the odds that 1) there will ever be any explanation for the repeating day and 2) that any explanation will make any sense whatsoever.
I vote for “no explanation given”. Hopper will eventually do what he need to do set things right, and then the loop will be broken.
I liked this episode, but I need to watch it again-- there as too much new info to absorb all at once and make sense out of.
I also vote for no explanation. If they try to explain it, it’ll ruin the show. We just take it as a given that the loop will break once he sets everything right.
Seems he already got one piece right, and I think it’s better that he apparently doesn’t have to build a mental-list to repeat every day to get every detail right in one run. Seems as though if he can make enough of an emotional impact on somebody it’ll stick. Maybe he’ll figure out a way to make Chad his friend.
From the previews for next week:
Apparently he takes Chad hostage, so maybe that somehow affects him.
I loved how he took out the guys at his sister’s house. I like how he messes with them sometimes.
I’m hooked, I really like this show.
I dont think they will, and I hope they dont. I like that Brett has had one idea so far (injection) that didn’t pan out. I suspect that he may try out a few more theories and have them fail too.
Now that we know things can change, how long before Brett fucks up and he wakes up one day to find out things have gotten worse?
Prediction: After next week’s episode (if you watched the preview you know what I mean) Jayne will feel an urge to give Brett the info on who from IA pulled the missing file.
There’s still lots of room for the producers to piss this all away, but I’m starting to like this show better than I’ve liked Lost in a long time. A three month break isn’t so bad with a good show during the haituis.
Oh, and anyone else love the bit when Brett walks out to the car and just blows away the thugs? I could almost heart him thinking, “Fuck it, I don’t have time for this today…”

How come this episode had titles calling them “Day 2” and “Day 3”? He cycled through at least three days in the 2 hour pilot and at least another two cycles in the first one hour episode last week. If by “Day” we’re talking about the number of times he repeats the day, he should have been up to Day 6 or so by this episode.
I am wondering if that is somehow leading to something. You know…like as things begin to change during the day, it will start at day 3?
I think it’s more “Day 2 of the episode you’re watching right now so you folks in the audience don’t get more confused than necessary.”
-Joe
Yeah, it’s “second day of this episode, third day of this episode, etc…”
I lost track, but I think we’re now on day 9.
Yeah, it took me awhile to figure that out. It’s very confusing, and I wish they’d just keep a running count. It makes no sense to count the way they’re doing it.
I didn’t get that day count at all. If only they’d listen to us…
Good stuff in this ep., with more material devoted to Hopper’s sister and his partner.
I thought the whole subplot with Andrea and Eddie didn’t do anything to move the plot forward and I started fading out. Then Brett got that call eary in the morning and all pieces feel together and it really did feel like a good episode, not a waste of time.
