Day Break 12/6

Hopper winds up in a hostage situation, trying to find a way to end his repeating day.
Oh yeah, that’ll succeed.

bump

I’ve read that Daybreak is already on the chopping block. A shame, really- I think it could have some good potential.

(Haven’t seen tonight’s episode yet, since I’m on the Weird Coast)

Too bad - it’s more interesting than Lost has been for quite some time.

That’s fine… they just better finish this season.

As I have told SimWife several times recently… I don’t neccisiarily care if shows like Lost, Heros, Daybreak, Dexter, etc… get more than one season… just have a good first season… and dammit, statitons, give the shows a chance.

They damn well better not end it before they run through the Lost fill-in episodes…
It’s too bad it hasn’t caught on, because it’s a very good show. Tonight’s episode was excellent. Reminded me of why I like Jayne so much…err, I mean, Adam Baldwin.

I thought that Day Break was never intended to be a long-term series… there were 12 or 13 episodes, and then it was over. I guess if it had been a big hit they could have done another season, however.

I thought tonight’s episode was very good. I like that Chad is a pretty complex character and it’s interesting how he has actually had an interesting arc, going from being an insufferable and possibly corrupt stuffed shirt to someone who actually thinks Hopper might be telling the truth and tries to protect him. Considering that we’re only seeing him on the same day each time, that’s a pretty good job by the writers. I actually think this show is pretty smart about the ‘rules’ it has set up in its premise.

well, at this point Hopper has alot of info together… if he can remember it all…

he knows who sent the packages, he knows what the picture is from, who’s fingerprint it is, etc… he should be able to get quicker and quicker… but by this point you;d think he’d start to realize the best place to write stuff down is on his arm/wrist… he needs to contact Micheal’s tattoo artist! (of course, by day 692, you’d think that the GF would notice the sudden markings!).

I liked how jayne… ooops… “chad” tried to explain the time stuff…

Are they going to keep us inthe dark as to how many actual repeats he has?

Its intersting, this time, how the feds were discussing “why a d2 would leave a murder weapon in his closet”… one has to really question who first told them Hopper killed Garza… some tip had to lead them to find the gun.

It would also seem that they changed the timing of the arrest warrent being issued… first episode it was relatively early in the day… now they say it doesnt happen till mid afternoon.

I just saw this show for the first time today. I’m disappointed to hear the show may be canceled early. It seems like its really good! (To my suprise. From the commercials I thought it looked a little dumb.)

And also, thanks to this thread for helping me figure out who the heck the Chad character was reminding me of.

Well, tattoos wouldn’t work perfectly – presumably the ink would be gone the following day. He would have to write it on his skin so as to leave a (legible) scar.

It’s not clear to me what the “rule” is about something like that. I’d guess that if he wrote it in marker it would be gone but if he had it tattooed, an actual change to his body, it would remain.

We already know that actions of the previous “day” may have effects on the current day. We didn’t see enough of Day 3 to see if there will be any change in Chad. I thought paying back Chad for the coffee was a nice touch.

I really hope they don’t cancel it before the season is finished… that would be the last straw for me. I watched the first season of Prison Break, it totally sucked but that show it huge. Then I watched Smith and really liked it. I’d have to swear off TV if they canceled this show too.

I like how he left the money he “owed” Chad on the front seat. I wonder if he’ll be able to use that (and the story of the run over dog) to convince Chad that he’s really reliving the same day. I think Chad would be able to help him a lot.

I was also impressed how he doesn’t assume the day will repeat just because it has been happening so far. Seems like how someone would really react.

Forgot to add last nite…

I’m really wondering about the crazy guy… they keep showing him… makes me wonder if he ‘is caught’ as well, or??? IOW, he seems to not just be a piece of background…

I appreciate all the info here, because I had many interruptions last night; should have taped it. Grrr.

Anyway…I love me some Adam Baldwin.

I just read on the EW site that if they cancel it, they’ll put the remaining episodes online.

Chad! The man they call Chad!

Sorry

Anyway, liking it a lot, and I’ve been enjoying it more on the assumption that this is meant as a limited series, and we will get answers at the end. I hope the “cancellation” rumors only refer to that. I agree with what was said in a previous thread - they could do further seasons, but each season should be about a different person having the same experience.

Damn, but these bad guys have a lot of balls! What could be so important that people so powerful have to set up Hopper? Well, maybe from what the gravel pit kingpin said, it is actually somewhat personal, a vendetta against his father.

I love how they drop in all the “this person knows what’s going on” dialog, then (perfectly believably) twist it around. Poor Hopper is going to need a long rest in a sanitarium when tomorow finally comes!

It’s possible that his previous actions have altered what happens with the arrest warrant, since they established that he can have a kind of subconscious influence on others from “day” to “day.”

Sorry, not EW…I think it was AICN actually.

I love the whole idea of him being able to convince someone that it’s really happeneing as he says it is by doing something like leaving the coffee money on the seat. Then we could have a scene where he confronts Chad with, “Well, if I’m crazy, how did I know the exact amount of money I owed you for coffee over the years. It’s pretty unlikely that I was keeping track of it like you!”

Didn’t he convince his partner in the second episode that he was reliving the day over and over?
