We commenced daylight saving time here in NSW yesterday. We’re now on GMT+11
Within my User Control Panel I have the Time Options set as GMT+10 (the standard time for NSW) and “Automatically detect DST settings”. Yet the time currently displayed is an hour slow.
Is my setting correct? Should I be using the “DST corrections always on” setting (which I took to mean that an hour would be added to the local time all year round)?
Not sure if it picks up your DST changes or not as the server is in the USofA, where we just this weekend went OFF DST in most jurisdictions. (There’s a few places in this country that don’t observe DST to begin with.)
I think that the “automatically detect DST settings” thing just means that it checks (based on your regional settings on your computer, or some such) whether you’re in an area that observes DST (some places do, some places (including some in the US) don’t). If you’re in an area that observes DST, the board automatically changes the time, on the date when the US changes. If you’re in, say, the UK, which changes on different dates than the US, then twice a year, the time will be out of sync for a week or so. And if you’re in Australia, as you are, and change in the opposite direction from the US, then your time is just plain going to be messed up.
