Daylight saving time

Is the “new” daylight saving time affecting the board time settings?

My personal setting is for (GMT -5:00) Eastern Time U.S. & Canada (with some South American cities) and I have the “automatically detect Daylight Savings Time” option set on.

Your post shows as 4:54 a.m. which is consistent with the 4:58 showing on my DST adjusted 'puter.

Of course, if you submitted your post at 1:54 MST, it may not yet have changed to 2:54 MDT for another six minutes. The default settings in a number of systems is targeted to 2:00 a.m., not 1:00 a.m.

Plus, if you are running anything older than Win XP, you have to download a new tzedit.exe from Microsoft to account for the new change in the date of the time changes. (I have no idea why that was not an automatic download months ago, but it is easy enough to acquire from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/timezone.mspx
(Click the Preparing for daylight saving time changes in 2007 link and follow through to the download.)

Thanks for the reply, actually it just changed. I had changed my clocks and stuff before 2, and like an idiot spaced that out. Thanks and apologies for the worthless post. Uh…Saturday night and all…

Is the Board time set to MST? I’m 7 hours ahead of GMT and awasn’t sure which time was being used. (We don’t have DST here.)

I think the board is set to GMT with appropriate offsets for where you are at. My location is listed as New Mexico, so that’s why Tom mentioned MST.

I may be wrong, and wish I hadn’t started this thread, don’t want to cause confusion.

If my memory serves me correctly (because I campaigned about it), the server used to change the definition of GMT during daylight savings time, rather than shifting regional DST times around it. That has now been rectified, with GMT being a constant as it should have been, and the times shown are accurate even over here in Blighty where the clocks haven’t changed yet. Good work!

It says my post above was 3:44 am. That puts it maybe even PST. I’ll tell you, it’s 5:50pm Sunday afternoon in Thailand right now. We’ll see what the time shows.

There, it said 4:50am. That’s 13 hours behind me. So that means the server really is showing the Mountain time zone on mine?

Okay – explain this one. When I’m reading a thread, it’s got the unadjusted time – when I cursor down to look at the time on the “write reply” page, however, it’s got the adjusted time. Whaaaa?

ETA – now they’re both adjusted. This isn’t my first post this morning though …

Well, whatever.

I remember that, I mentioned to them as well at the time.

Your location says Bangkok, but your “Time Options” are set to “(GMT -6:00) Central Time U.S. & Canada”.

(Mods can’t see the DST adjustment check box for users.)

If you go to User CP at the top left of the screen,
Select Edit Option about four entries down on the left side of the screen,
then scroll down to ** Date & Time Options ** in the middle of the page,
you can select the time zone where you live (or where you want the time displayed regardless where you are) and then select whether you want the software to automatically adjust for DST. (You can also select a different “first day of week” (which defaults to Sunday to coincide with U.S. calendars.)

Thanks! I just did that, and the time settings on the posts have changed to my time.
