81 blood - I got hit on the apartment rooftop in the chest with an AK74. I got in, patched myself up, but then got shot again through a window inside. Dr. Tran started running as soon as he heard I got hit and arrives just in time to save me when I have 81/12000 blood left.
Various kills in Cherno - we had probably 12 kills in total, but I wasn’t observing a lot of them or they happened so quick I didn’t have a chance to start recording, so I only recorded a few of them.
We were still in Cherno. A few of the guys ended up stealing a working motorcycle and got ambushed and had it stolen, but I ended up shooting the guy off of it with a .50 cal and we got it back. Then we ended up facing off against another organized group in another part of cherno - we ended up having a fierce battle over a complex of buildings near the NW hospital.
As we lost guys, we ended up having gaga run around on the motorcycle and pick people up from where they respawned to come back and get their gear… so we’re in the middle of a firefight, people popping in and out of cover and sneaking around, meanwhile gaga is driving into the city and dumping people off and taking off again. Tuck and roll.
We ended up losing control of the buildings and dying after they’d been down to one guy. It’s possible that everyone died - we’re not sure - and if that’s the case it was a race to see who could get back to that building complex first and start looting and guarding the massive amount of gear laying around. They got there first. We had no backup weapons or anything, so we tried to sneak into the buildings to loot weapons to kill them with, or even an all out hatchet attack, but we weren’t able to get control of the buildings.
We even tried to use deception, having one guy get their attention and run out one way, and have another guy sneak in to loot weapons, but it didn’t work. I tried to somehow burn them out of their building with a smoke grenade, but it didn’t work.
Still, definitely the longest, most involved battle we’ve had - and totally legit. No one alt-F4ed or cheated in any way, they just got the better of us in a close fight.
I recorded probably a half hour of footage, so I need to edit that and get it uploaded.
I am definitively NOT a first-person shooter guy, but this has me interested. I found the mod surprisingly easy to install. Only played for a few minutes, had to quit when I couldn’t figure out how to bandage myself.
I need to spend a while playing solo, getting the hang of the unfamiliar controls, before even considering playing coop.
That was a swing and a miss, odd for that comic. Only because the zombies are not what you have to avoid, especially near a barn…
I got called off today, so I am DayZing it all up in the joint. I am humanities last hope, and I carry the mantle proudly. I spawned next to a deer stand, it had a map, akm with 2 clips. I used to map to guide myself to a castle and jackpot. On top of the above mentioned items I then had

I did not have matches, or a hatchet tho, so I was down to 8k health and hoping to find matches and a hatchet for some cow meat. The server I was on had the map waypoints allowed so I started comparing the online map to the game map, castle to barn to deer stand… THEN the awesomest thing I have ever encountered happened… I found a crashed helicopter with nvg, ghillie suit, and a bfa? something. So there where tents at the castle, it gave me 3 choices, save old tent, gear, and switch my weapon, I did a save old tent then I started running the 1100m back and forth to ferry the weapons/suit.
I dropped my AKM and some gear into the tent and off I ran back to the crash site, grabbed the bfa some m107 I think clips etc and darted back to the castle. Now mind you I am in the boonies, staying clear of everything and anything… Machine gun fire breaks out, I scream into the games voice friendly if you ceasefire I will give you a full auto with 2 clips and someone replies in another language I do not understand. I am prone and looking around for the culprit, and then lights out.
I respawn as quickly as the dang loading screen allows to run back to the castle and the tent figuring get my AKM and some ammo and recover my goodies. Without a map now I am running blindly toward where I think I should be going and since I had landmarks next to the beach (a giant rock next to railroad tracks next to Otmel.) I took off up the hill and came to the castle… Same server same castle, tents where empty
When you’re just sitting around unarmed, zombies are very much what you fear. And actually for that matter they stay a fear. Especially with recent patches where handguns do much less damage. They can knock you down unexpectedly anytime you have less than 9k blood IIRC even if you’re well armed. Their aggro can limit your escape options if you’re otherwise engaged with a player or lead the player right to you, and sometimes you end up aggroing more as you kill some and get a huge swarm that can be dangerous.
They’re not the primary threat to a geared player, but they’re always a threat.
I ordered google nexus 7 today, I’m hoping it’s going to be the perfect companion to playing day z - load up maps and loot table spawns and stuff like that.
I wasn’t just talking about people being more deadly than zombies, though that was a big part. I was also speaking on how somehow the Jamie zombies always spot you no matter how long you crawl.
On another topic, anyone have a good server, 500 was awesome but the heli/atv hackers I have another tent, 3 maps, 2 compasses, a pack full of ammo etc I would like to start saving for SDMB players for another assault.
If it’s a glitch, it’s a glitch that applies to everyone on the server – in which case I’m not sure what the difference is between a glitch and reality, in this context.
It’s possible that it’s a glitch in the sense that the fire just appeared without cause. But I know it is possible to burn down buildings, so I think it’s not unreasonable to surmise that somehow the whole town got lit up.
It’s a glitch - it replaces one of the textures with the flame animation- very creepy when it replaces the entire skybox.
Occasionally, crashing helicopters can also create prodigious flames as the game tries to simulate surrounding trees also burning.

Saw my first functional chopper today. It was flying overhead, above the sprawling fields east of Vybor and immediately south of the airfield. It was one of those moments where it takes awhile for you to comprehend what you’re seeing. I thought it was a bird the first time I saw it, and then it began to drift toward the ground and I realized that it was an actual chopper.
So I sprinted toward it, keeping a row of bushes between myself and the chopper, which by this point had landed maybe half a kilometer north of me. I was within 200 metres of the thing when it took off again. I fired a couple potshots at the windows, but didn’t hit the pilot. It’s too bad. I was really looking forward to flying it.
I’m only able to play for snatches of 30-60 minutes, maybe 2 hours in total. On my second spawn, finally found a gun (revolver). Unfortunately, it was after my blood got to about 4000, and my vision was washed-out and blurry. It’s really a PITA - can barely even see that there is a loot pile, I have to carefully sweep the floor in likely areas. But I’ve shot one zombie, and am not dead yet. My first spawn died when I didn’t know how to bandage.
If anyone runs across hrhomer, don’t shoot! I have no microphone, so no real chatting for now…
In other news, my friendly fire count is up to 3. I was trying to clear a zombie off Gaga when he zigged in front of me and I hit him with a 1911 round in the chest, but we were able to say him. Next up I forgot that Lute Skywatcher was one of the guys in our group, and when he suddenly came into my area I just shot at him, 50 cal to the chest. And then 2 days ago, Richard Parker told me he’d be coming up to my hospital - but like when he was 10 minutes away. 10-15 minutes later, suddenly I turn around and there’s a guy with an AK standing there and I just reflex fire, 50 cal to the chest.
If anyone dies in my platoon, it’s gonna be from my bullet. That’s the new rule.
In other news, we had our first rape victim in our group. Dr. Tran got shot in the leg by someone with a female avatar. As he was passing out from the blood loss, she started dragging his body back to her little fort as he tried to talk to her over local voice chat. Eventually she decided he talked too much to be worth the trouble and shot him in the head.
Here’s a longish video of our Saturday adventures. I was the first one to die on our side in the group vs group fight, so I don’t have footage of that unfortunately, I was running back to the city when that all occured. It sounded like a pretty great battle, and you can see the result with a building full of corpses.
The first half has our various adventures in killing random people and motorcycle taxiing, and the end has suicidal assaults to reclaim our building.
I have another tent, 3 maps, 2 compasses, a pack full of ammo etc I would like to start saving for SDMB players for another assault.
