We’re getting a doper group together in about an hour from now (so around 2pm PST.) Anybody who’d like to join should hop in vent and get ready to go soon.
We’ll be meeting up around Zeleno, so try and make sure you’re in the area.
I’m downloading Arma II now, looks like it will take a while. I’ve got ventrilo but just the mic on the laptop. My screen name will be some version of Octarine or OctarineFire.
Looking forward to killing zombies and assorted do gooders
I currently have 2 DMRs/1-M24/1-Bizon/1-fnl and assorted normal weapons. If anyone needs anything and are near Otmel just holler.
Whats the deal with the servers? Do I just choose at random? So far Ive entered a couple but get weird glitches where I see sky high pyramids/planes that are copper colored near houses.
I did not order through Steam, I just bought direct, thats not a big deal is it?
It’s just a super-buggy alpha version of a game. Glitches happen on every server, I think.
Server choice does affect gameplay. You might want a higher or lower population server depending on your plans. Ditto day/night, weather, and game options (like whether nametags show). Servers also tend to have distinct cultures of violence or cooperation. A lovely social experiment.
So confirmed now. Maybe with more engine access the bugs will be squished!
Hi Guys!
My name is Sna.ke, I’m a Leader/Admin at [TDB] (The Devils Brigade) and I run the server US 917!
Hope you guys had fun, and thanks for visiting
Happy surviving.
Cheers,
Sna.ke
So far every channel I have tried to join has stalled during loading or I get messages that I cannot play the mission. I got into one channel a bunch of players immediately chased me into a building and shot me. I didnt even have a fucking hatchet.
Is it me or almost all the channels unaccessible? I get red X’es to the left of the server screen.
So far its been a waste of money.
Download DayZ Commander. It’s easy to use, and makes connecting easy, if still slow as hell.
Lies! You just want our beans!
We’v got a bus, sons. Hop on vent.
For some reason when i have dayz running vent wont work unless i alt tab to it pulling me out of the game.
You need to run Vent as Admin to chat in game.
Hey, that’s cool. You’ve got a good server that we somewhat use as a home base, although we hop around depending on conditions - like if we’re trying to coordinate with 5+ of us, we pick a server with nameplates so we don’t end up shooting each other.
I stumbled across a M107 w/ 3 clips for you Senorbeef. I love helicopter crash sites I would rather get them to you asap, but if not they will be in a tent.
Excellent, thanks. I won’t be able to pick it up soon - the 3 of us are going to hunt around the northeast corner of the camp of those people we encountered last night. I probably won’t be around for most of today. So go ahead and pack it away in a tent for me, thanks.
So anyway, we had a bus last night. Unfortunately it was on a low pop server and we didn’t get to do anything goofy and fun with it. Next time we will.
We ended up using it to transport the 5 of us across the map to one of the potential helicopter spawns in the northeast corner of the map. Once we came up empty handed, we were running to park it somewhere safe for shenanigans on friday, when we were ambushed by some very well geared guys. As the driver, I was killed with the first shots - the other two remaining passengers managed to scramble for some nearby woods, but were quickly killed by guys with sniper rifles and ghillie suits.
I spawned unusually close to the area, about as far north as you can spawn, and I ran back in about 20 minutes. I caught them driving their own car up to the bus and unloading all the gear from the bus to the car. I had no weapon, or I could’ve leisurely blasted them at any point. Very frustrating. I watched them waiting for some sort of opening - they’d occasionally run to check our corpses or something. My plan was to run in, hop in the bus driver seat, and then just take off. It would’ve been hilarious - they would’ve hopped in their car to chase me down and we’d have had some sort of road battle.
Unfortunately, while I crawl snuck up to about 50 yards away from the bus, when I was about to get up to it they saw me and started shooting wildly. I did a panic disconnect - which I generally try not to do because it’s lame - but when I came back 5 minutes later, they’d taken the car and booked out and… deliberately blew up our bus with one of the satchel charges so we couldn’t have it.
I guided Mutton back to our corpses from before - they’d taken our best gear, but left some of the more mundane stuff. We were able to regear with AKMs and survival gear. Right before we logged out, those guys apparently came back to take a few pot shots at us.
It was strange, we were in a server with like 6 other people, and we were in the corner of the map probably least visited by anyone, and yet we ran into 2 of the most geared, organized players day z has to offer.
We suspect their camp must be up there somewhere - both because they heard us up there enough to stalk us, and because they apparently came back to shoot us after they stashed the car away, their camp can’t be too far away. So we have a new mission: find their camp. Once found, do nothing but eat taco bell for 24 hours straight and just spray diarrhea all over their tents all day long.
Their camp is likely within 1-1.5 clicks of Krasnostav, which is the town near the northeast airfield. It’s on server fourteen twenty one (spelling it out so it doesn’t get googled just in case). If I had to guess, I’d say that big forest north of the city, but I’m not sure. If you’re at all in that area, look for a camp, or listen for their vehicles and follow them in.
Okay, big news. I don’t want to get into specifics but we’ve found an enemy camp with a fully functional helicopter on US 1052. I don’t want to get too specific but it’s in the general area of Dolina, west of Solichniy on the east coast.
The tricky thing is - I won’t be around later and neither will Derek, and those are the only reliable pilots that we know. Plus more people can join us on Friday. So we’re probably going to let it go and play tomorrow with everyone. The tricky decision is… do we steal their stuff now and use it tomorrow, or just let it sit and steal it tomorrow?
There are cars and tents in the camp too so if we’re going to rob the place, we have to do it in an organized fashion all at once, or they’ll move everything else as soon as we discovered the camp.
No one is to go to this camp yet - if we’re going to jack it tomorrow, we’re going to do it all at once. Someone going in alone to steal some stuff could blow the whole opportunity.
The helicopter is fully functional but we can really use spares. Start searching for engine parts, rotor assemblies, etc. if you can carry them. Hide them in a tent if you have them. Never hurts to have spare parts.
The helicopter holds 5 or 6 people, so we can get most of the whole crew in. The helicopter pilot and 2 gunners will stay with the vehicle no matter what - the plan is when we need to make a landing, to raid somewhere or get gas or whatever, we touch down, 3 people get out, and the pilot and gunners take off again to circle and cover, so we’re not sitting ducks on the ground. Then when they’re done we land again, pick them up, and we’re off.
We’re probably going to start the moving operation tomorrow afternoon and hopefully if all goes well we’ll be ready to rock by the time most people become available.
Go ahead and head towards the Dolina area if you have a map and know where you are, we can make a mass pickup there.
BTW, people who I don’t really know, who haven’t ran with us before will probably have to sit this out. This is some high stakes shit and we can only go with who we trust right now.
Sounds like fun! Be sure to post a video. I haven’t had much opportunity to play yet. I’ve appreciated you inviting me. I have absolutely no gear and I have played a grand total of maybe 45 minutes.
By the way, since most of our actions now are going to be quick jump out of the helicopter, raid something, hop back in type stuff we should try to skew more heavily towards short range weapons like AKs rather than all loading out in sniper rifles.
