DC Dopers: July 15th Geo-birthday Dopefest, anyone?

Oh, and Sara? Ya didn’t show up – guess that means I’m sticking with Geo.

Sua

Guys, this really eats. Al I wanted to do was go home and get some sleep. Instead, Geo and Sua have to babysit me while I figure out what to do.

Anyway, this little problem notwithstanding, I had a great time. Everyone was cool and lunch was outstanding.

Punha, where the hell were you? I missed hearing the gratuitous references about my nose that you’re famous for. :stuck_out_tongue:

As for August, I’m game, so you plan the party and I’ll drink the booze.

Misread the time. I had thought it’d be at 6 for some reason (probably my brain carrying over from Ogre’s party). So there I was at the Tortilla Factory at 6 or so and looking really stupid.:frowning:

The late August dopefest sounds perfect . . . I’ll have been off work for a day or so and will be able to stay as late as I want (because I won’t have to wake up at 6 the next day).

Geobabe, I guess you’ll have to punch my lights out at our next fest:)

O.K., I tried to get there. I really did. But I had some things to do beforehand and I didn’t get going till much later than I should have. By the time I reached the restaurant it was almost 3 P.M. Apparently you’d already moved the party to Geobabe’s house by that point. O.K., that was my fault.

So then I went somewhere to get something to eat and then decided to drive home. I found myself on a road which, I swear, was circular. What goes with 606 East? If it says East, doesn’t that mean it goes east, not around in a circle? It was at the point that I saw something for the third time that I realized that I was going in a circle. I turned north at that point and finally found the Dulles Toll Road and made it back to the Beltway.

I remember now why I hate driving in Northern Virginia.

Geo, what the hell is it with you and your guests’ cars??? Next time I come to see you, I’m taking the bus, just to be safe! Kudos to Geo’s mom and stepdad for being wonderful hosts. Your birthdays are fun, Geo! You should have them more often!

There’s a problem only if they’re guys named Dave, apparently. So no more Daves at my parties.

Apparently Weirddave really IS as Dave as he looks:D

Fine. You may now adress me by my middle name. Everybody, meet Weirdbrad.

Funny thing was, I’d missed the reference to the time earlier in this thread, and thought the party was going to be in the early evening. I checked the thread shortly before noon to find out exactly when, and went, “Whoops!” as I lurched into motion.

Great party, Geobabe! I’d say you should have birthdays more often, except that I’m adamantly opposed to violating general relativity.

Happy birthday, Geobabe!
[sub]Not really belated, because where I am, it’s still the 15th. Hope you had a great day![/sub]

The three of us had a great time! You throw good birthday!

You don’t know how important it is for couples with tiny little people to get out like that! That was our big social event for the month!

WOOO!!!

OK, I’m back, to the tune of $435 and one timing belt. The stupid bastards didn’t even time it up right, but I’ll be damned if I’m going back down there to get it fixed.

Oh well. Anyway, it’s been said already, but you do throw a great party, Geo. And thanks to you and Sua for helping me out. I hope I didn’t throw a wrench in your plans last night. If I did, you can just punch me like you’re gonna punch Punha next time.

Hey, Airman, at least yours was fixable…when MY car dies (on the way to a Dopefest, actually) it was my whole transmission.

</one-upmanship> ;)>

It was awesome meeting all of y’all. Geobabe your mom and stepfather rock. And the rest of yez were all right, too.

Airman Doors:

Hmmmm…gratuitous violence at a Dopefest. I’m strangely comfortable with the idea. After all, we’ve had gratuitous just-about-everything-else.

Unfortunately, I’ll probably be in Nashville by that time. But I’m leaving that weekend open just in case…

Let’s see: camera, ductape, stun gun, mace, zip ties, Nair…I know I’m forgetting something…

And GeoBabe’s parents definitely rock (no pun intended!); a testament and inspiration to living your life, and well.

Wendell Wagner and iampunha, so sorry you guys missed us–but that was why I put my cell phone number in the email! Shoulda written that down! Next time, eh?

Cajun Man and AudreyK, thanks for sending the greetings! smooches to both of you.

I was a bit disappointed that we didn’t get a fistfight going this time around, though I was quite pleased to have a banned poster at my Dopefest. Woohoo! So Airman Doors’ sendoff 'fest will have to be an all-out brawl, I’m thinking.

And AD, I’m glad you got back home OK, though I’m sorry to hear it cost you so much. I hope the trip was worth it, at least? Ah hell, the timing belt prolly woulda broken anyway, so at least it happened after a party instead of a crappy day at work or something. Right? I’m just glad you were still close to my house when it happened instead of somewhere out in the middle of nowhere. And Sua and I still had a lovely evening, so not to worry about that.

Geobabe writes;

I did bring a copy of the E-mail message with the cell phone number along with me. By the time I got to the restaurant and found that you guys had already moved on to your house, I decided that it was too late to call you and then try to find your house. I was so disgusted at that point I just wanted to go home. Little did I know that I would then spend an hour trapped in a circular hell.

I always suspected that Virginia had some “space-time issues”.

Hey Geobabe…just wanted to add my kudos for a great party. It was great meeting the newcomers to DC Dopefests including Sua and Airman Doors. (Sorry about your car, Dave. Looking forward to all the devious things we can do to you at your sendoff party.)

Hey, happy birthday!
