DC Dopers - Meet a Jen-yoo-wine NY Doper!

Ok … beyond getting massively confused by all the SDMBs and which ones are and are not functional and who might be reading them, I’m posting this thread again for the first time.

I, a veteran NY Doper, shall be in DC on the 18th and 19th, and I’d like to meet some of the DC crowd for dinner like we do in NY. I know RT said he was available, but I don’t know about any others, and I don’t really know any other DC Dopers anyway.

SO, anyone who wants to come out for an evening (Monday the 18) come up with some suggestions about where we can eat and meet. My usual DC eatery is Schula’s, but that might be pricey for other folks.

Let me know and see you then!

I may be up for it, depending on time and location. I’m a suburbanite, so traffic may be an issue. If it’s someplace that’s near the Metro, that will probably help.

I’m up for it, depending on time and place.

Will Mrs. Heap be joining you?

Interesting that I already know all those who are replying.

Anyway, y’all know the area better than I do, so the suggestions should come from your direction. I’ll be taking cabs, so I don’t care where we do it.

And no, punha, I’ll be down alone for a hospital visit.

You’ll have me all to yourself.
 :stuck_out_tongue:

Oooh, I might be able to make it…

I’ll have to check with the boss first…

It’s been too long since Bluesman and I have been to a Dopefest…and the 18th is right at the beginning of my spring break…so we may be a go! I know, try to contain your excitement.

Anyway, we’ll be watching for time and place.

Well, I know I’m excited. But I’m just an excitable girl.

Good news, folks. I got my plan. Grabbin’ a shuttle at 9, I’ll be at Reagan by 10:00. I know y’all have to work and whatnot, but if anyone is free, or just has some ideas for something I can do for the day before going … wherever we are meeting, I’d appreciate it!

See you soon!

First thing you need to learn, never call the airport the “R” word. It’s National.

And if you need stuff to do, head on down to the Mall. Even if you’ve been there before, there are so many museums, there have to be ones you haven’t been to yet. Check http://www.si.edu/portal/t1-events.htm and http://eg.washingtonpost.com/ for museum exhibits and other interesting stuff.

I’ll let someone who is more familiar with downtown suggest a gathering location.

You can count me in.

So where and what time?

And you’re channeling Warren Zevon, too.

I’ll be there, wherever/whenever ‘there’ is.

I’m about to go to bed, but if somebody will go to www.washingtonian.com and click on “Cheap Eats”, it’ll have some possibilities. They’ve got things sorted by geography and by cuisine. I expect downtown/Chinatown, preferably near a Metro stop, is best.

Well, I hope soembody comes up with an idea! This isn’t my town and I don’t know where all the good food joints are.

You tempt me so with your boyish good looks and … stuff.

[sub]Besides, if he’s that hot, imagine what his WIFE must look like![/sub]

How about Pizzeria Paradiso at 2029 P Street, NW, starting around 6pm for those that can arrive that early, and everyone else getting there when they can. Or is that too early?

Getting there: it’s practically right at the Dupont Circle Metro stop. Parking can be a challenge; subway’s better.

If they sell beer, it works for me!

I’ll likely be the first one there, since I have all day free and I’ll be cabing it there.

Looks cool.

That sounds good. 6 works just fine with my schedule. See y’all then!

The food it good but it is small. Guess it depends on how many show up if they could actually handle it.

Well, the description said it had more than 40 seats. Our last DopeDinner in NYC was at this hole-in-the-wall that was probably about that size with the addition of stools at the bar.

There were 14 of us.

 No worries. I think this looks pretty cozy and pleasant, and I could really use some good (i.e. not frozen) pizza.

Since it’s a Monday night, the place probably won’t be so crowded, plus we tend to get a smaller turnout for weeknight events. Besides, if we do get a big crowd, we’ll chase off all the non-Dopers anyway!

There is no way to properluy describe my profound anger via the internet.

The appointment I had made at the hospital has been cancelled, and I was forced to make a new one the day after.

Therefore, I will not be in DC until Tuesday morning instead of Monday morning.

All of my plans are precisely the same, but one day later.

As if that makes me feel better about it.

I want to beat that doctor with a frozen sausage.
