Dead baby sex pills - this CAN'T be for real, can it?

When my wife was in China studying for her university entrance exam, her father bought a human placenta from a hospital and made soup out of it; I guess human placenta was supposed to be “brain food”. Now it’s a big leap from placenta to aborted fetuses, but the idea doesn’t sound completely impossible to me.

The program that originally aired this story doesn’t have a particular stance against abortion as far as I know.

I’m not saying the story is 100% true, but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t at least based on something. SBS is a pretty major networking, and making up a story from thin air would seriously damage its credibility.

Yeah, how did I miss that one? It lends enormous credence to the story. Why risk cold storage at the drug company, when you can escape detection by using “some family’s refrigerator” to store your dead baby stockpile? Just make sure that everyone in the family is in on it.

“Where’d Granny go?” “Down to the kitchen for a late night snack.”

“Grandma, NOOO! Not that fridge!!!” “AIEEEEEEEE!!!”

The dead baby/fetus stew was a pretty popular news story in China last year, complete with gory pictures. This seems pretty ho-hum in comparison.

China’s a big place, so it wouldn’t surprise me if this actually did happen somewhere, but if it’s made up I won’t be too surprised either. It’s definitely not something the average Chinese would do.

Seriously?! :dubious:

So you’re telling us that the Chinese actually save (And if you’re gonna save 'em, that would necessitate the need to store them.) the placentas from child births?

And that human placentas are for sale to the general public, for consumption?! :dubious:

Eeeeeeeew! :frowning:

Now maybe I’m just a little bit prudish, but that just sounds… nasty! Besides the fact, that it borders on being cannibalistic!

There are “cures” in traditional Chinese medicine* that involve consuming preserved parts of one’s relatives, or other people.

A best-selling book a few years ago (“Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers” by Mary Roach) discussed this, as well as a modern-day allegation of cannibalism in China (indignantly denied by the parties involved). Tales of “the old ways” may well feed modern rumors.

*interesting how proponents of TCM generally leave out this aspect of therapy.

Yeah, MBC is the outfit that made stuff up out of thin air. Thankfully, they no longer, AFAIK, have PD Diary.

Speaking of…

Yeah, I saw that, too.
She takes the box of ashes (actually, cremation remains are mostly crushed/powdered bone) everywhere!

Definitely a little “out there”, but IMHO not nearly the ick factor of “placenta stew”.

I don’t think it was for sale to the general public. My wife presumes that he bribed someone, but she didn’t inquire too deeply at the time.

The idea of eating placenta is fairly widespread. I think there was a celebrity that participated in the not too distant past.

It’s not just a Chinese thing; Cecil did a column on placenta stew in Berkley for example.

Sorry, but I’m going to have to disagree, based upon what Uncle Cecil has reported, on the subject. (Thanks for finding and posting that, Der Trihs! :))

Thank Og! :stuck_out_tongue:
I had the mental picture of a butcher shop style refrigerated case, complete with fresh, iced down fetuses and placentas.

Awhile back I linked to a website that offered to train women in the art :dubious: of preparing and preserving the placentas of newly delivered mothers for consumption (not everyone wants to use their own kitchen for this purpose).

Obligatory recipe page.

And if this looks revolting, it should be. Of all the human organs one could consume, placenta is intrinsically one of the least appetizing, seeing as it is basically a slimy membranous sac filled with blood.

I am NOT going to click on that link, Jackmanni!.. :dubious:

Damn it! :smack:

I just knew, I would regret doing that!

You could have at least given us a warning, about the extremely disgusting pictures! (and in, you guessed it, full vivid color)

Reminded me of the Hot Off the Grill episode of Married…with Children.

Or this one episode of Night Court; “That wasn’t herb tea. That was Herb!”

Back to the OP. If dead babies can be ground up and help with male stamina, well. . .they’re dead already, right?

“Y’know, working as a firefighter can take a lot out of you. Sometimes I’m just too tired to give my partner all the care and intimacy she deserves. That’s why I use…Baby Corpse Sex Pills™”
