Has no one else seen this new showtime series? There’s been three episodes so far. I love it!
My friends constantly roll their eyes at it, but I’m fine with it. They can’t get over all the logical fallacies and whatnot.
I love the main character, she’s so dark and depressed, I guess it’s because I can relate to her…
The english guy is pretty cool, but I can’t stand that spanish meter maids annoying expression and attitude. Rube is a nice godfatheresque type character, but I can’t say I like him. So far I enjoyed the dull office scenes the most, but maybe that’s just because I loved Office Space and Dilbert.
Well I’m not ashamed to admit that I’ve seen it. All things considered, I think it’s a decent show. Personally, I like the comedy elements more than the “drama bits.” When it gets all serious at the end of the show, it feels a little like an episode of Full House. For this reason, I hope they start to focus less on George’s family as she settles into her new job. Frankly, I can’t make myself care about her relationship with her mom or her sister.
But I dig the witty banter at the pancake house. And watching the reapers at “work” is truly hilarious. Really, how can you not like a show about Grim Reapers? (This may be a personal problem… I just purchased the Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey DVD.)
I saw a couple episodes just last night and I love it. It’s so dark and humorous, and I relate to George so well. She’s great.
If I’m ever home late nights I will be sure to catch it, because I think it’s just wonderful so far. The one about her having to take the little girl really wrenched me…but I think the ideas in it are all very interesting. Like the guy’s soul being kept inside his body because she didn’t keep her appointment.
Love it.
In an earlier thread*, I said that I don’t really see where they’re gonna go with it. The dark humor is fine. I enjoyed the last episode where Georgia is sitting alone in the cubicle while the rest in the office is having a party. But how can they keep a compelling storyline going?
Will we have ‘death o’ the week’? Touched by an Angel, the hip version? Georgia and her family is not very interesting, as Fabio said. What’s left? I dunno. I can’t see where they’re going yet, but I’m giving it the benefit of doubt, since I’m entertained, so far.
One thing though, the swearing is stupid. They revell in it: 'Well here on showtime we can say fuck, so let’s do!"
I like it. I know what it’s like to lose someone close to me, and some of the feelings and situations the characters experience are dead on - bad pun not intended. Plus, I loved it when the meter maid ran over the British dude for stealing all the coins from the parking meters. Dark, sick humor amuses me.
It’s okay. Mandy Patinken saves the show. Execution could be better. I feel that after three episodes, it’s still the same damn thing - Georgia runs home to boring, dysfunctional family. There’s a lot more you can do with being undead and unrecognizable in the same world you used to live in, but like most of Georgia’s life, it’s not touched at all. The relationships between the reapers are half-baked and static. There isn’t enough dark, sick humor.
Still, it was entertaining enough for 3 episodes. But if ep 4 revisits the same theme in the exact same way, or if there’s still no character development, I’ll stop at 4.
