Dealing with leftovers in the MMP

I like the new thing. That looks nice, I may order one to go beside my Moravian star.

And it’s cool to hear that others collect the swarovski snowflakes. Years ago, like 15 years ago, my “local mom” aka my best friends mom, asked me to build her a thing to store and display hers, it turned out quite nice, crushed blue velvet, a little LED light shining down on each one, plenty of spaces for future snowflakes, a cupboard below to store the boxes they came in. She’s now, sadly, long passed away and he now lives in her house with his wife and little one. There are only 2 spots left for new snowflakes. I dunno what they’re going to do when they run out of space.

doggio I dig your drawings, they look oddly like the doodles my brother makes.

Now. Onward to the day. I’m heading over to said friend’s house for the feast, bringing my cheesecake and the cranberry sauce.

Happy Thanksgiving, all!

And now Alice’s Restaurant is on the radio, so that’s nice.

Afternoon, mumpers and Happy Turkey Day to those who celebrate it.

It’s currently 9c/49f with a predicted high of 10c/51f, and cloudy because this is Scotland and it’s very wet. Weather app says “Do you know what’s worse than fucking rain? An itchy butthole.”

We had a good drive up here yesterday, stayed with ‘im indoors’ mum last night and are now in Edinburgh for the night. Dinner at The Ivy then off to see my favourite singer in the whole entire world at Bannermans Bar.

Better get myself moving then!

I have two chickens stuffed with my savory dressing in the oven. In an hour or so I will work on the sides. I will make mashed potatoes and my take on green bean casserole. I have some scratch rolls proofing on the back of the stove. It will probably just be the four of us. My oldest daughter’s business partner is at odds today and has been invited. Her husband took their kids to her in-laws and she did not go. I don’t know if she will show up but she is certainly welcome.

The corned beef is thawed and currently residing in the fridge. It will get cooked later this afternoon. The Daughter and SIL won’t be here until late tonight so it’ll just be the two of us to eat it. We have a whole chicken in the freezer, which I will get out in a few, Along with some extra thighs, to roast tomorrow. Don’t know what else we’ll have to eat. Daughter was supposed to get me a fruitcake at costco, but they didn’t have any, again. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: She had to get one at winco, but they’re not as good. I swear, if costco weren’t the go-to place to get decent T.P. I’d cancel my membership.

Today I will do some wiring in the basement, and burn some trash. Nothing strenuous.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Turkey Day, or Thorsday, whichever you prefer.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it and have a good almost Friday to everyone else!

It feels very strange to not be cooking today, we’ve always done the traditional feast in the past. Hubs says it’s a pajama and leftovers day for him and he seems pretty content. Of course it might have been because Mr. I-don’t-eat-a-lot-of-sweets started his day with coffee and brownies…

I’m packed but I haven’t put my suitcase in the car yet in case I need to add something. We are only going to be an hour away, if I forget something important, I can buy it in town or just come home after it. I do need to stop for gas before I head down the mountain, gas is much more expensive in the valley than up here.

I’m taking my tablet, but I hate to post with it so might drop out of sight for a while. I will still keep up on all you guys doings, though.

When I came into this room, GG jumped on the nightstand to look out the window and he 'lerted on something. I looked out and saw that LWT had pitched a bunch of boxes over the fence as requested and they were something new and different in his yard. Today is super windy and the boxes started moving around so GG went out into the catio and came in with static fur.

Well, off I go, take care and have a great rest of your week!

Will someone please tell what N.O.T. stands for? Google was no help at all? Also, any other acronyms you all can think of? Thanks a lot!

Not Our Taters.
Because when we have mashed taters for dinner, we don’t want people to think we’re cannibals, and eating Taters.

Ok, thanks.

For the most part, FCD is good about keeping things tidy. The biggest problem I have with him is he cleans by putting things “away” where I’ll never find them and he’ll not remember. Drives me crazy! As long as he’s just hiding his stuff, I don’t care. But there were a few times I missed paying a bill because he put the mail “away”… no longer a problem with everything being electronic and automatic.

Now, If I could just get him to turn off lights when he leaves a room…

I spent a tad over 4 hours helping my daughter and wrangling the kids. I folded 2 huge baskets of laundry after culling the clothes that Tobias has outgrown. I’ve got a big bag of kid clothes and a box of maternity clothes for the thrift store. Plus I brought home boxes and bags of toys and books for the basement stash and some spare clothes for both kids. Also, the little rocking chair that belonged to my daughter - it was just in the way in Roxy’s room.

FCD stopped in and we lowered the crib mattress. I swept the kids’ room, folded blankets, and did what tidying I could. The last thing was to keep both kids occupied while Daughter cleaned the bathroom. When she got that done, I left. The place isn’t spotless, but it’s better. She’s got a big bag of books to donate, and the rest of Roxy’s library is organized. The TV remote got lost somewhere along the way - their problem, not mine. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just ate a little turkey and cranberry jelly, then some pretzels. I’m about to assume the crochet position. Don’t let me forget my Dr appt tomorrow!!!

Howdy Y’all! We ate. We drank. We made merry. Truly a good time was had by all. Twelve folks (includin’ us) in da cave is a lot of folks. Again, fun was had, but, as always, I love company when they come, but I love company better when the go. Peace and quiet now reigns. Dishwasher is loaded and washin’ away and we commence chillage. This will be two days in a row without nappage. I fear for my sloth cred!

Hope everyone has had a good day.

Does the appointment call for any fasting tests, or did you already deal with that?

Happy Thorsday!

Happy Thanksgiving.

My son got off irk at 1am. I was able to get up, get dressed, get him, and be back in bed by 1:40.

Nice group at the park this morning. It didn’t feel so cold even though it was 28 degrees.
Sky doesn’t like Ripple and ran up at him barking and growling. Ripple just ignored her and went along his merry way. I think that confused Sky.
One of the park guys rode the cart into the park to do his job. Cerby chased him all over the place. The guy was nice though, he drove slowly, and laughed at the dogs. Cerby ran out the main gate when he drove out. People were panicking, but I know he is not going to go far. He’s afraid of getting too far from me or my son. Echo would be a different story; she would have taken off and run forever.
He got into a barking frenzy again. I was going to leave, but instead my son got him and sat in the truck with him.
He’s been outside most of the day, and he barks too much.

Niece1 texted me around 9 and asked if we were coming down to eat at 2. A little more notice would have been a good thing. If we had known, my son could have gone to bed when he got home, and we could have skipped the park. That way my son would have gotten some sleep.

Marie Calender’s turkey dinner is much better than Hungry Man.

I have never heard of putting eggs in stuffing or dressing, and I don’t know why you would.

I have to call the vet tomorrow. Cerby is almost out of Prozac. The vet saw him while he was at daycare, but didn’t leave pills or call in a prescription. He goes in for an appointment next Friday, but he doesn’t have enough pills until then.
I want to talk aboutr weaning him off the pills anyway. He’s still a bit wild and has his frenzied moments, but he’s not bad. Other than the barking, I’m going to have to work on a few things to get him to stop.
The collar works in the house, but it doesn’t work outside too well, and definitely doesn’t work at the park. I think I’ve had only one other dog in my life that barked all the time, and at nothing. He didn’t start it though until he was old and getting senile. He’d sit in the yard and bark at nothing. The other dogs would run over to see what was going on, get confused looks on their faces, and walk away.
Like Ripple and Echo will go check out what Cerby is barking about, then look at me like wtf mom?

Nice drawing Doggio. Maybe you should start a comic strip?

I like goats, I like goats a lot.
Not so sure about the singing.

I like your new thing Ooopsie

There is a reason why my mother and father were never invited to my house. Both of them were critical. When I lived in my row house, I was having my kitchen remodeled. Everything was piled in the living room with a tiny path from the front door to the kitchen. My father yelled at me because I hadn’t vacuumed. I’m not sure where I was supposed to vacuum? I guess the tiny path?
Then when he found out I had a cat (he hated cats), he really flipped out on me.
Nope, never invited back over.

My son is pretty good around the house. Other than he likes to play Jenga with the recycling.
He is neater and cleaner than I am for the most part. Probably because he doesn’t have stuff to leave around. He has a computer
He does make me crazy when he puts things away though. Although he is much better at Freezer Tetris than I am.

Sorry for all the medical mess Susan and WetOne.

Have a good time with your mom JtC

Drive safely to all you travelers.

I know I’ve missed a bunch of stuff.
Y’all have been so chatty.
I’m just tired.

Blood was drawn last week. I’m good.

Been making more flower coasters - after I make 5 more, I’ll start the finger puppets. Crocheting and chillage work well together.

Had a fun time with kids and grandkids. My stuffing got too dry, but other than that it was all good.

As for leftovers: remember that 3-4 days is about the longest you want to keep anything in the fridge. After that, freeze it or toss it.

Howdy Y’all again! Tomorrow promises to be rainy. We shall see, but it’s OK by me. I am definitely not goin’ about the great unwashed masses at Black Firday sales. Is that even a thing anymore? I have become such a fan of online shoppin’, I rarely go to any stores beyond the grocery sto’, Sam’s and :astonished: Wally*World. :astonished: Stayin’ inside and dry sounds like the perfect plan, IMO. I’s tahrd! May be bedtime soonest.

Feast made and et. ‘‘Twas good and lots of leftovers. In fact, I think I’ll make me a turkey sammie now. We ate earlier around 3. I have been watching football since and still watching the last game now.

Got the tree up and fluffed but a couple sections of the lights are out and I’m not going through checking each light to figure it out so I just ordered a couple strings of lights to be delivered tomorrow. Also ordered a tree skirt cause I don’t know where mine is. I still have boxes not unpacked from my move 9 months ago. The putting on of ornaments will have to wait til the lights are on so got out of that for the day. I did mop the floors so total sloth did not happen.

Safe travels to all. Be healthy.

Dinner was good. 7 of us, plus the neighor’s teerier, Dotie. Dottie has gain weight since I last saw her, she looks like a wombat now.

That was actually one I did as a strip I did at work for a year.

[Bartles & James]Thank you for your support[/B&J]

Thanks!

My BIL proclaimed the tenderloin to be the best beef he’s ever had. It was dang tender and delicious as were the mashed taties, punkin pie, and green beans. I am home now but will go back tomorrow. I ordered 2 presents online when I got home. Free shipping!!!

Oh, what a nice Thanksgiving! My Jamaican friend brought corn casserole. Son and DIL brought her famous brussels sprouts. Can’r recall who asked me if they’re roasted. She said no, pan-fried “with bacon and other stuff.” She also made a pumpkin pie with from-scratch crust, and the COOLEST thing: Turkey puzzle cookies. The head feathers, legs, etc, are separate cookies with icing piped on. You put then together to make whacky turkeys on your plate. The stuffing (sans-eggs version) turned out well, and the turkey was tender and juicy. And we laughed a lot. Well, not the dogs. Two of 'em snoozed, and the third repeatedly dropped a damp squid toy in my lap so I could throw it.

I sent leftovers home, but I still have an impossible amount packed into the fridge I could easily feed six more people. The kids did the dishes. Yippee!

Misnomer, I like the Thing, too. It’s got clean lines and is really elegant. My wreath is a peace symbol made out of pine cones 'cause I’m all boho like that.

Doggio, love the cartoon!

Change the names, and this could be any of my high school frosh classes.
And Sari, you deserved nicer parents.

JtC, safe travels. I’m looking forward to your update

I loved reading about all the feasts and fun you folks had.

DH and I just got back from a Chinese buffet. I don’t think we’d been to a buffet restaurant since the Beforetimes. The place we agreed on today had always been dependable, and they were as good as I remembered. I only had room for one plateful, plus a dish of soft-serve (couldn’t decide between chocolate and vanilla, so did the swirl). Buddy seemed a little bothered when we got back, but once I settled onto the couch and he parked up against my leg, he seemed to calm down. Allie’s apparently under the furniture again.
