All it boils down to is responding to pettiness. I realize petty posts are the stock-in-trade of much of this message board but it never hurts to point that out.
Sometimes people just don’t give a shit about responding. A minor criticism of an ambiguous point by someone Shodan probably doesn’t like anyways. And he blew it off. Yawn.

I didn’t mind his joke, but IMO Reagan was heralded as some kind of Second Coming by the right. Never did see it, myself. But I just wanted to point it out. I don’t mind mild mocking of TPTB (or harsh mocking, depending on who’s in power).

It’s not really strange. Shodan is actually a lot like you, elucidator, …he’s being funny a lot more often than I think people realize.

So, IS there a non racist solution to what the sig means? In all seriousness, I can’t think of anything else that it would mean.
I don’t think he’s a dickasaurus. I think a lot of the time he’s being funny and people take it seriously, and he thinks it’s even funnier if he doesn’t clarify. And some of the time, people are responding to their idea of him instead of him. For me, anyway, Shodan is one of the posters I almost always disagree with but still find myself liking. I’ve seen him be reasonable many times.
That’s exactly what I was trying to say when I said he was like elucidator. I think people tend to get 'luci’s sense of humor more, or he doesn’t tend to work people up into a lather because more folks around here agree with him, but both of them tend to be funny more often than most around here, and have kind of a dry or sarcastic sense of humor. I think that a lot of times when people take Shodan seriously, he’s actually being funny. And you are right, Ensign Edison, when he just lets people get pissed off, it cracks me up even more.
Oh, Jesus. This is like “niggardly.” Just because a bunch of people don’t get the fecking joke/reference doesn’t mean that their best wild assed guesses about what it was meant to mean means that it was meant to mean that. Buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo. And if Shodan doesn’t deign to bother to grovel on down and explain it in tiny words to defend his honor doesn’t mean that they were right.
