Death is not an option: Sex: The followup

I don’t like being condescended to by people who are being ridiculous. This thread (the follow up) is to demonstrate and quantify the ridiculousness.

I’m fine with people just picking option 2. I think most of them are delusional - not lying, simply too weak minded to truly evaluate the situation and therefore go with the easy answer. If actually facing the situation for real, they’d choose otherwise. If that’s all it was, I wouldn’t have said anything.

But those people had to go the extra mile and assert that anyone who would say otherwise, to actually admit they’d make the choice - the choice that most of the people in the thread would take if actually in that situation - other people have to insult them and declare to be revolted. That’s the part that gets me.

That isn’t to say I don’t think anyone would legitimately pick option 2. Never having sex again is a variable punishment. If you’re like a lot of SDMBers, you probably aren’t getting much in the way of valuable sex and you might not anticipate ever having sex again. Makes the decision pretty easy, right? If you’re James Bond, and you’re banging a different one of the most beautiful women in the world every few days, it would obviously be a much harsher punishment.

So I wanted to make the punishment more universal and extreme. Hence the choices we can all recognize to be bad - being blind, being crippled, etc.

Now it was my hypothesis that everyone in that thread was being a gigantic fucking pussy (I mean come on, it’s a silly hypothetical question, you have to act SO VERY OUTRAGED!!! AND DISGUSTED!!! that anyone could ask a hypothetical question because you have sticks up all your asses and like to be offended for no good reason) and continue with their delusions and judgements.

And I was right. As of now, 42% of the thread respondants indicate that they’d rather be blind or completely crippled from the neck down rather than face one night of discomfort that did no permanent damage. This, to any rational human being, is absurd. No one could possibly choose avoiding a temporary, non-damaging discomfort in exchange for an extremely damaging, permanent handicap, lifelong discomfort that removes almost all of your quality of life.

As I said, I could see people actually making choice 2 in the other thread, depending on how valuable sex to them was. I can’t see anyone in this thread choosing the latter options because being able to use your body or your eyes is obviously overwhelmingly valuable to everyone.

Hence, that response proves that the people are delusional. No one would actually take that answer, but almost half of them claim they would because they’re unable to stomach answering a simple hypothetical question. And they’re so outraged and disgusted that their super delicate offenderati sensibilities have been set off to even have to consider the question.

So - the combination - people who are clearly delusional, who were, in the other thread, insulting other people for being disgusting when in reality they were simply non-delusional, bothers me. Any time anyone insults other from a position of weakmindedness bothers me.
