In linking to a thread in which he has posted he is apparently banned. I know his liberal vs conservative Punch and Judy show got tiresome for some, but he was always polite, not a jerk (personally) and invariably left his cab sweet smelling. What did he do to deserve banning?

Feels like a content-based chill wind is blowing unless someone has something better than he really annoyed some leftists. Oh, he lied to make a point and admitted it. I guess that makes him the first one “up against the wall.” A joke that never loses its humor if you’ve actually had relatives put up against the wall by Communists.
No, I suppose I should have been clearer. Not the dirmant thread where people called for his banning, but the thread where his actual banning (which evidently just took place) is explained (either directly by a mod, or indirectly by showing the transgression which led to the banning.)
I did check the Bali thread, and didn’t see anything strikingly different or obviously ban-worthy there. I’ll have to look at it more closely.
I disliked his politics and disliked the way he carried on.
I’ve called him a liar and worse.
I’m sorry he’s gone and I won’t be celebrating. I think such a high profile banning deserves a comment from somebody in the know. Make it a sticky and close it too replies if you want. There’ll be threads about this all over the place if no official announcement is made.

I didn’t see anything ban worthy on december’s page 5 post on the bali bombing thread. Are you sure that’s the right one… I skimmed through page four and didn’t see anything there either… altho admittedly I might have missed something.
I wish he wasn’t so determined to walk the thin line because in those clod-hopping boots you’re always going to encroach on both sides of it. Had he been just a bit more reasonable in the presentation of his OP’s . . .
If I recall correctly, one is supposed to inquire about a member’s banning via email to a mod or admin. I think they frown upon starting such threads.
I’ve read a lot of decembar’s posts - they’re hard to avoid, and I’ve never seen anything ban-worthy. I agree with yojimbo, the mods have some 'splaining to do.
Damn! His politeness was a model for me and even though I disagreed with 99% of his conclusions, he made me think about a lot of things I hadn’t thought of.

Shodan, while I disagree with your politics, you are far from a jerk. December was. just becuase he didn’t curse or directly namecall, he was a complete jerk.
Also, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out other shennanigans were at foot.
So, relax with the whole republican witchhunt martyrdom.
I disagree with most - not all - but most of december’s views, and find some of them downright offensive.
However, I’m now going to use some words that you won’t often see applied to him: compared to many of the other extreme conservatives on this board, I found him witty, personable, and quite charming, often in the face of extreme criticism.
Though he infuriated me to a high degree, and I was very insulting to him at first, I realised he was a decent person to have an argument with, even if his views usually made me tear my hair out.
The boards will be a little less interesting without him, and I’d be happy if he could sort out the problems and be allowed to return.
I hope this thread doesn’t turn into a pile-on.
