December banning

More reasonable voices being those who agree with your drivel, I assume.

Exactly, friend.

December didn’t fit the profile. He didn’t have the right politics or beliefs. This was bound to happen eventually, although had other people done the same thing he did, it would have been overlooked, no doubt. IMHO.

So how long until Reeder is out on his ass, too?

Reeder is three times the troll december ever hoped to be, and I won’t bother providing links because anyone who’s been around knows what I’m talking about.

It really does seem that people with certain viewpoints are cut a lot more slack than people with other viewpoints around here, and it really pisses me off sometimes. Alot of you self-described “liberals” want diversity in every aspect of life except for people’s opinions.

Bullshit, TaxGuy. Look at the specific post for which Gaudere warned december, and show me ANY similar post by any current member of the board. Either that, or shush.

Same for you, Snoopyfan. Much as you might want, nobody’s feeding your bitter self-pitying asses to the lions quite yet.

Daniel

As a MOR Anarchofascist I don’t participate all that often in the usual Demolib vs Conservapub debates, but December’s OP in the Bali thread(I didn’t read the entire thread) was a steaming pile of polite, mindless, shit stirring, trollesquery that could have tipped the scales with an admin at the end of their patience.

Nope. That’s pretty ugly, but I do agree with a lot of what Boo Boo Foo had to say. I think they called the situation correctly to a large extent w.r.t. the Bali bombings, and that the OP was likely reaching and misleading. If it started in GD, it should not have.

However, I also noted the amusing fact that somehow TwistofFate had become an American.

First, thanks for your thoughtful posts.

Second, some people who are banned from here are often reputed to be quite decent in person. Sometimes its keyboard courage, other times the distaste of their views being challenged or who knows- but certain people appear to change when they post here.

Honestly I think certain people are better off with LiveJournals- although certain people do need angry badgers shoved down their pants. Making threats over the internet is the ultimate cowards game.

I hope you have a nice weekend!

Alot of you self-described “liberals” want diversity in every aspect of life except for people’s opinions.

Hear, hear.

Is this the SDMB equivalent of the “liberal media”?

What the fuck? There are lots of articulate, well-spoken and polite conservative posters on the board. Why you would ever choose to have december be a martyr for any such ideas is way, way beyond me.

From an avowed non political perspective (and I await the administration clarification on the reason for the banning) I see the turmoil that December arouses here is basically a left wing backlash at an unabashed right wing perspective.

While supporters of George W. Bush wince silently at characterizations of George Bush et al sacrificing American lives and civilian casualties to secure oil etc., december lays out the corollary view that visible protestations of the war encourage continued resistance and terror against westerners who will (in the eyes of the terrorists)someday crack and leave in a 1975 style evacuation of Saigon.

I can’t fathom the ethical difference between the two opposing views other than in the former, a motivation of greed is suggested while in the latter , ignorance is a factor.

That december provokes outrage is understandable. But if this SDMB is willing to silence a particularly provocative right wing view because of sensitivities amongst it’s members and ignores the digs and insults directed to the minority right wing as characterized by Rush Limbaugh/Daniel Pipes/Ann Coulter and december, then I think the administration objective of fighting ingnorance will have been compromised somewhat.

I have this image of Gene Robertson speaking at a Southern Baptist convention, and having the microphone taken away from him.

elf6c, there isn’t a “suspend” feature for posters. All the mods have is active and banned. Plenty of posters have been banned for a short while as punishment or as a cooling off period. The way that they do this is do “ban” the poster and then un-ban them later. It doesn’t mean that they changed thier minds or that there is any sort of un-banning experiment going on. It’s just the way that the board works.

Reeder had an OP in GD a little while ago where he blasted the Republicans for “voting down” legislation that Reeder argued would have helped stop the Blackout, but Bricker came by and set his ass straight.

Then no one said anything about it.

At least it shows how week most of the liberals’ arguments are–that you guys have to start screaming and yelling and calling foul and shit–all while Reeder does the exact same trolling nonsense. And I’m not going to spend time finding links to Reeder threads–there are about a million in GD that consist of a link to a far left news resource and twenty words of original text.

Actually you’re wrong, what I head at the last meeting was that our current goal has some specific language requiring all conservatives to wear leather chaps and dog collars, while groveling at our feet.

I left before they decided on what color the chaps should be, however.

Personally, I’m very very tired of the whole if-they-banned-x-why-haven’t-they-banned-y line of reasoning. When Coll was banned, they asked it of december. Now that december is banned you ask it of Reeder. When Reeder is banned, no doubt it will be asked of whoever (or whomever) is next on the list. Let me be the first to formally request that this cycle end.

december can accurately be characterized as articulate, well-spoken and polite.

Oh, and also conservative of course.

What bullshit.

December on the right, Reeder on the left.

People have calling for their banning, which, usually happens when you’re an asshole.

Because Reeder is most liberals.

Of course, if you bother to read Reeder’s threads, you will see that most people on both sides of the aisle telling him he’s an idiot. And you will see people on both sides of the aisle saying they have no problem if he’s banned.

Get off your cross.

Trion, I think you have a point, but only to a point. I mean, look at the trials and tribulations of the outspoken Christian posters, who were all basically decent people with a different point of view than most of the rest of us.

Lots of folks here hen-pecked them until they said one little slightly mean thing, then they got banned for being jerks. That Bali thread was the biggest hen-peck I’ve seen in a long time, and it made december’s banning inevitable, not because of anything december did, but just to restore order among the foamy mouth knee-jerk no brain liberal assholes we seem to be up to our ears with around here.

We went with pink. Afterwards we flew off in our black helicopters to the UN to plot the one world government and how to get Hillary Clinton elected president.

The liberal media effort through Fox News, the Washinton Times, National Review, numerous right-wing radio commetators such as Rush and Bill O’Reilly and the Wall Street Journal were elected to get out our message.

By the way Howard Dean brought Jello with fruit in it again- yuck, he is so not getting my vote.

Guys, you can’t really be serious her. You can’t really be making the argument that december was banned because of his politics, can you?

The issue here, as I see it, it that of acting on good faith. december, did not. There are folks here whose politics I utterly disagree with. The difference is that, unlike our winter friend, when they are engaged in debate they do so in good faith. They answer questions that they have been asked, and state their opinions for all to see, responding to the whole of the debate, rather than cherry picking through them to build a case for their opinion.

That is, after all, why we are here. My personal politics and understanding of the world in which I live has been refined and made more sophisticated in part because of my interactions with those that do not share my beliefs.

Um, dude, look at the Bali thread and december’s “i played a joke on you” thread in the pit, which were both basically roll calls for screaming hissy liberals.
