A joke I had never noticed until just now. The Chinese restaurant is named Bo Ling Chop Suey Palace. They have a big neon sign which is actually a Bowling sign with the w turned off.
I swear I saw that lamp in another movie, or sitcom or something?
Anyone?
According to this, it’s been referenced visually in The Simpsons, The Flintstones Movie, Black Christmas, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a bunch more references to it in pop culture.
Honors and benefits already! At the age of nine!
It was an artifact in the warehouse in the Warehouse 13 Christmas episode a couple of weeks ago.
Ha! After two dozen friends, relatives and my wife expressed their incredulity over the fact that I’ve never seen this movie I broke down and watched it.
Not a great movie, not a bad movie. Just meh. Don’t get what the big deal is.
I felt the same way about PB. Loads of people told me it was terrific and when I finally saw it, I was underwhelmed. However, I have found that it grew on me with repeated viewings, and it does have some awesomely quotable lines. Like A Christmas Story, it’s a very earnest, charming film.
Ah. Well that explains my déjà vu.
I’m watching right now. SHOW ME HOW THE PIGGIES EAT!
'Tis the season to be jorry.
The countdown is on for me to watch this for the second time!
We’re on our 3rd viewing ever. Ho ho ho!!
(scans thread)
(shakes tiny fist)
“It’s…SMILING at me!!!”
It is “It Runs In the Family”. I think it is probably done about as well but just doesn’t appeal to me the same way. Still if it comes on cable watch it.
Netflix has My Summer Story.
And the lamp is making a brief cameo in an ad for (IIRC) Capital One.
