Decorating for a surprise party in the MMP

I just snuck a beer out of swampy’s cooler! Burp.

I suggested Gary, and even offered to find a pineapple shaped fish bowl analog, but Rocket arrived pre-named, so we figured that teaching him to answer to a new moniker was beyond our escargot-wrangling skills. (Which currently consist of Googling “what does it eat?” and “how to tell if it’s dead?” and such.)

It’s move-in weekend for students who live off-campus, and tax-free school shopping weekend, so I made groceries this afternoon. I ain’t about fighting crowds, so I figured I’d better get lunchbox supplies today.

Steaks for supper for us big folks. The girls are happier with a frankfurter, so I didn’t waste the food $$ on them. Beer in hand (okay, one in hand. One traveling towards my bladder.) I’m smoking a roast on the “leftover” coals from the steak and veggies, so I may need a lot of beers tonight.

Did you leave a package of Brussels sprouts in return? :dubious:

Well, roommate is out of town cat sitting, so tonight is my one opportunity.

: smacks Flytrap with wet trout :

: dons Haz-Mat suit, smacks Flytrap with Hákarl :

and for those keeping score ,tonight was stir-fried pork with bok choy, baby broccoli, and shiitakes with a ginger garlic sauce and somen noodles.

Very tired, let the miniature emperor cater tonight. I’m doing quite well at the new job, sayeth my very nice supervisor, and I’ve scored some major points with supes in the last few days by being willing to help others with required online training and being good at it.

Home from the theatah… it was a decent production, with three glaring distractions. Ben Franklin’s bald wig was puckery along the right side of his head. Edward Rutledge, who was supposed to be 26 years old, was played by a man who was at least 50. And the Rev. Whitherspoon of NJ was black. But the guy playing Adams was a strong lead and Abigail had a lovely voice. It was worth $15. But it was THREE HOURS!! Which is why I’m up still. I need to wind down. <yawn>

My husband shaved his head today(I helped) and now every time he catches my eye, I have a little frisson of “Wentworth Miller is in my bed!”

I’m used to a guy with a shaved head. My husband took up that habit when he worked in a warehouse and wore a hard hat all day. He says it’s cooler in the hard hat without hair.

And he is laughing at me because I am also reaching out and rubbing his #4 stubble and telling him how velvety his skull is. It is!

Mr Raventhief (Or Mr Poe, here in the MMP) rather prefers long hair, I rather admire short hair, but in our over a decade together, this is the second time he has taken a razor to it- and for much the same reason. Its been bloody hot and he wants to be able to wear a hat without overheating.

Last time, tho, he didn’t remind me of wentworth miller.

Well Tis 450 Am and I have yet to go to sleep. Body in motion and all that. I have irked extra hard this month. I do intend to sleep all day today after I tell y’all about the package that arrived today. I ordered hunky 7 shirts from Belk. Used to be Belk Matthews back in the day but I digress… Came home from irk after 14+ hours day and hubs says “you got a package”. I saideverything in that box is for you. I am tahred, aggravated and next think after I return from bedroom shucking bra, he has opened the box. There is the packing slip, the 7 shirts and vase made of tin about 16 inches tall and golden color. He was holding the packing slip and asking me WTF is this meaning the vase. It was not on the packing slip but there is a price tag on the bottom of it for $60. Will monitor that I am not charged but will put it in the yard sale or re-gift it. One time I ordered some shoes from 6 pm .com and got a three pack of free baby bottles. I gave those to a coworker who knew some one with a baby. Weird.

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Working a double today.

blurf

Up waaaaaaaaay too early for someone who went to bed after midnight. I’ve got a gawd-awful headache and I can’t tell if I’m tahred or not. Overall, a weird sensation.

At the moment, I’m having a PB&J sammich and a diet coke. In a little while, I’ll don grubbies and get out the mower. I really, really do not want to mow, but it’s been 3 weeks and the ditch is a mess. I definitely won’t be mowing next week with my sweetie in/just out of the hospital, so it’s gotta get done.

And I’ve still got that tree down in the back yard, but no way **FCD **can take a chainsaw to it, and I really hate using the chainsaw. I may ask my neighbor to cut it up - the cutting shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. Once it’s in smaller pieces, I can clear it away. We shall see…

Today’s other activity will be blanching, peeling, and cutting up peaches for jam. I may measure it all out today and actually make the jam tomorrow. Depends on how much energy I have as the day goes on. Plus, of course, laundry has to be done somewhere in there. And **FCD **won’t be much help - he’s got a project from work that needs to be done before his surgery. He’ll be working most, if not all, of the weekend. Oh, and he wants me to cut his hair, which means shave it all down using the #1 guard on the clippers, in keeping with the hair theme above.

Why did I un-retire again??

Still, Happy Saturday!

Happy Saturday!

It’s a cloudy 74 degrees outside, and supposed to rain today and tomorrow. Guess I can cross all the outdoor jobs off my TODO List.

Glad you are doing well at the job Nettie, although was there ever any doubt you would?

MetalMouse at least you run around with some kids, over here we are too lazy to even do fun things.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 98 and sunny with a heat index of EHRMERGERD for the day. The water in the cee-mint pond is cool however. Yay for that. Today I get celebrated and am promised a day of fun and good munchies. I can deal with that!

Nettie yay for doin’ great in the new gig!

Thanks Y’all for all the bday wishes. Makes an old retired bear feel good!

OK, I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I must purtify for today’s festivities. Plus, I need to head over to the church house for more ice. I get that chore because I am the possessor of a key to the buildin’. I feel so important.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Brassica rapa, Brassica oleraca*, what’s the difference?

Mowage has been accomplished. I’m showered, shampooed, and dressed respectably enough to venture forth. We’re going to go order 2 tons of pellets for the winter, then have some lunch. When we get back, I blanch and peel peaches (N.O.P.!! )

Iceage has been achieved. Food is appearin’ for the fest. Chikin wings, stuffed jalapeños, meatballs, holy moly dip, veggies (cause we pretend we eat healthy), chips, pita bread, and assorted other munchies. Plus scramble dawgs for dindin! Oh and cake. LAWD! Da bear is ready to partay!

Yay, nettie for doing well on the new gig!

doggio, supper sounds yum! I am ready to get my new kitchen set up and go back to cooking like that.

Laundry, pressure washing trash cans are on the agenda today. Sis and the pup should be in around supper time and (obviously) we’ll go grab a bite.

I’m at the point of using an old school day planner so’s I don’t forget what I have to do for moving day prep. I don’t know if it’s middle age or a blonde thing that I can’t remember this stuff without writing it down.
