I never got the love for red (or any other color) velvet cake. There isn’t enough cocoa in it to mask the whang of the food color. When I used to decorate cakes, I could taste the food coloring in any deeply colored icing too.
I’m setting up my electric service today. Things are getting real now.
So. I have a reprieve. Thanks to some generous friends, I have enough to pay the past due. Now all I have to do is come up with August rent, September rent, October rent, etc etc etc
Home. I stopped for Chinese, so supper is prepared.
It was pouring when I left the office, and the temp had dropped to 79°. As I drove north towards home, the rain gradually stopped and the temps were mid-90s. Ugh.
Fire extinguishers, wedding gift wrap, wedding cards, etc., have been procured. When I left home, it was 97 at noon, which is ominous as this area doesn’t normally get hot until 3 PM or so.
Dindin has been ingested. There’s enough chikin leftover for another meal and someone asked if he did sad puppy dawg eyes could he have chikin nachos tomorrow. So chikin nachos it shall be.
gotti do I correctly assume the fire extinguishers are the weddin’ gifts? It’d be a not too bad gift especially for people who can’t cook.

Yes. They’ve been my default gift for some time as seemingly everyone spends hours at Bed Bath & Beyond or Macys picking out china and bath towels, but nobody ever seems to think about their safety until the stove is on fire.
A good many of my in-laws are firefighters, so I apparently end up thinking about safety for others. As a result I have three extinguishers at home - one in the kitchen, one in the garage and one in the master bedroom with a Maglite next to it, plus one in the car.
As luck has it, I got back to back invites to weddings this past week, hence buying two extinguishers, two bows, two cards, etc. today. The weird thing is that neither couple has a readily found registry on The Knot or at BBBY.
Here at the other end of the Bay we reached 103. Just blech. I emptied out the fridge at the house in anticipation of the final house cleaning before we show the house. Plus I have to put out the trash tonight. Today the painters finished and the floors are half done. Tomorrow the rest of the floors. Then it gets staged and the photos are taken. Listing on Monday.
I need to get the junk haulers around one more time. Found a treasure trove/junk pile that needs to go.
I have a feeling we are going to be up all night. He’s restless, pacing and panting, and won’t take a treat. Even the one without the aspirin in it.
He’s walking a little crooked and bumping into things, I hope it’s not another episode of vestibular disease.
It was just a little bit ago that he was bugging me for more treats.
And hope you had a happy B-Day, 2gig, since the day is almost over.
Red, I bet it was in the last place you looked…
Well, I volunteered to coach a boys U-12 soccer team this fall. I’ll get a roster next weekend and games start on the 20th of August. It will get me out of the house and get me some needed exercise, but I haven’t coached in over a decade (due to work/travel) and I am hoping I remember what I’m doing out there…
Does my make the eyes at every meal, like my Nathan does. Nathan will eat anything.
Sahirrnee, I hope your dog gets better. As you can tell from above, I have a beloved pet too and when I hear of another dog in distress I feel concerned, thinking about my own.
A different day. I am getting trained for trailer docking and release which is about as exciting as it sounds. Unless you don’t do it correctly in which case people can get injured or killed. So I am taking it pretty serious compared to how I approach most things.
