Decorating for a surprise party in the MMP

Sounds sorta like a space shuttle job. There you go - very exciting!

It’s still 85. What is wrong with the world?

The Boy got a new (to him) car for my birthday. He seems to be happy - I have received about 32 pictures and texts extolling its virtues. (His first vehicle was 1995 Tacoma, so anything is an upgrade!)

Since the guys had to drive up to South Carolina to get the car, they detoured to the nearest Ikea so that The Boy could buy some stuff for his apartment, and are spending the night before trekking home. I ended up napping away the afternoon, and Girl 2.0 cooked dinner and let me sleep. At my age, that’s a pretty nice birthday!:cool:

A different day. I am getting trained for trailer docking and release which is about as exciting as it sounds. Unless you don’t do it correctly in which case people can get injured or killed.

Let me have a try at it…My utter lack of depth perception will make it exciting, probably by overshooting the dock and either turning a 53’ trailer into a 47’ or punching a hole in the building, depending on which is stronger.

Now if we could just synchronize Big A’s packing efforts, that would be something. I recently ordered some t-shirts. Four of them came from Kentucky in a very sensible gray plastic envelope and one came from Las Vegas in a box large enough to hold a couple dozen t-shirts. Surprised they didn’t fill the box with air bubbles.

They did, but they saved on plastic. It was just the air.

**Nava **- you crack me up!

Boss is gone till late Friday - he’s in Sarasota doing an inspection on some trainers we had to modify/fix. He left me a metric buttload of stuff to do, so that’s good.

Today is supposed to be a bit less hot, but we don’t get back to normal summer temps till the weekend, maybe. Perhaps I can finally get the ditch mowed.

My niece wants to buy our pop-up trailer but she and her spousal unit figured they can’t afford it right now. If it doesn’t sell, I may work a deal with them. We shall see. **FCD **said he’d give it to our daughter - he drives me crazy - he’s *always *giving her stuff. Like when we bought her a small sailboat that she used once. Then we sold it and gave her the money. He doesn’t see the problem with that. Slightly indulgent daddy there.

But I digress. It’s only Wednesday. I was dreaming last night that it was Thursday. Talk about a rude awakening!! Happy Wednesday anyway.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 95 and maybe rain late this afternoon. We shall see. Today’s big plans include beginnin’ to clean out/reorganize kitchen cabinets and a trip to the sto’. Fun times ahead!

red yay for found screwdriver!

So, Peaches has/had a birthday?

And now this…

OK that’s all I got. I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification so I can go out and about the public must commence.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. I’m off today, but no plans other than waiting for the repairman.

Happy Birthday Peachers!!!
Moooommmm!, You should get FCD to buy FCdaughter a kegarator that I can permanently borrow.:D;)

(and if you use “color=peach”, you get lime green.:dubious: )

They both grow on trees. It coulda come up salmon pink.
Happy B-day, Tony’s wife! (That’s sure to rile her up!)

Happy birthday Peaches!! I have not yet ingested enough coffee for fancy fontin’, but everybody else has that covered. Swampy, do you have your birthday greetings just saved somewhere with an “insert name here” blank, or do you code that every time?

I am just trying to get through the week. Is it Friday yet?

Happy Peaches Day!

Happy Hump Day!

Happy Birthday Peaches!

It’s a cloudy 76 degrees outside.
Supposed to get up to 90 today, then we have rain and lowering temps for the next few days. Even going down into the 60s at night.

Dog seems to be better today. He was up all night but finally settled down around 5:30 this morning. I hope he was just having one of his ‘spells’ and is better today.
The hard part for me is not just seeing him uncomfortable, but I can’t do much. Nothing I do makes him feel better.
All night long it’s pace and pant, move his bed, pace and pant, go outside, come back in and pace some more. Lay down and you hope he will go to sleep and he’s back up pacing and panting, and upset because he can’t find his bed, or he can’t find me, and then it’s back outside, and then back in and dragging his bed around the room.
If I get up and walk around he tries to follow me, so I sit still hoping he will settle down. Then when he settles down I am afraid if I get up he’ll wake up and it’ll start all over again.
It’s a win if I can get up and go to the bathroom and get back before he notices.

The poor old man, he’ll be 15 on Moonday.

Twenty more minutes til I’m off irk and then can go to sleep.

I made the executive decision to not root through the kitchen cabinet of doom this mornin’. I opened it, looked inside, sighed, and closed the door. One day. I promise. Really. Meanwhile, I have managed to purtify and make a list of stuff I need at the sto’, so there’s that. Now all I have to do is drive to the sto’, but the stuff, drive back to da cave, unload it all, and put it away. LAWD! I need a nap after just postin’ all that!

Sari glad Sah-dawg is better today.

It can wait. Leave yourself something to do next week.

When my dad first retired, he was at such a loss for things to do with himself (when it was raining and he couldn’t play golf) that he used to go from the second floor to the basement just to tell my mother that the dryer had buzzed and her laundry was done. When asked why he didn’t just take the laundry out and take care of it, his response was “I thought you wanted to do it.” Miraculously, my mother did not murder him, but I received several phone calls regarding the fact that she was thinking about it.

Blurf Happy PeachesDay.

Happy Peaches Day!

I am at irk, in fact it’s 45mins away from quit o’clock for me. I’m very tired today after last night’s excitement watching bands, and getting home late. But it’s pub day so I will be out late again tonight, hopefully with a bit less excitement this time and a bit more sleep when I do finally get to my bed. I’m looking forward to Thursday, just grocery shopping, cleaning and laundry to do in the evening so a relatively quiet night in for me.

I’m off to Scotland on Friday with 'im indoors, for his mother’s belated birthday meal. We were thinking it would be in the evening but turns out it’s lunchtime. But now lunchtime has become 3pm, and knowing how much that family like to faff, food is unlikely to be ordered before 4pm and I’ll have wasted away by the time it arrives.

Glad to hear Sah-dog is better, pets are always a worry when they can’t tell us what’s wrong.

HAPPY PEACHDAY!

One of these days I may be able to take a break at work. Big Boss is on hold with the Helpless Desk right now and I can’t go until that’s done.

Good lunch today - leftover wonton soup and an eggroll. Yum, and I’s stuffded!

The chore the boss left for me is exceedingly dull - I have to open a drawing, make sure it’s complete, and save it as a .dwg file. Except a bunch already have their .dwg files, so I’m just verifying the number of files are correct. And I’m correcting screwed up names at the same time. BORING!!!

But it beats a sharp stick in the eye, I guess… :stuck_out_tongue:

We think the same thing on the trailers as well. We had this late truck that we were told (by the computers) to expect like 6k, just before the truck arrived we were told it was more like 600; we opened the doors to find basically 50-70 boxes. In their defense they were all oversized things (carpets and TVs) but it was still a lot of empty air. And a lot of what we get is what we call “fluid” - boxes just packed into trailers without being on pallets or wrapped or anything. Amazing things happen when they pack this huge half-empty box under 10 super-heavy boxes. :smack: And then bounce it all down the road from Kentucky to us. :smack: :smack:

While I was typing the last a neighbor rang the doorbell. One of the kids (in his 30s now I would guess) of a former neighbor was found dead near us from a heroin overdose. I can’t say I am really surprised; he has been in jail several times and in and out of rehab at least 4 times and he’s been back around the 'hood high lately. Just Sunday the paramedics had to come and haul him to the hospital. But I still feel bad because he was basically a good kid who just went down a really dark trail. Won’t be the first thing like this I’ve lived through and won’t be the last but it never gets better or makes anything more like sense.

I sucked it up and went to the grocery sto’ and pharmacy. Go Me! Anywho, 'tis all done and I just ingested a ham 'n cheese sammich so all is well. I believe I shall achieve nappage just cause I can.

{{{Ruble}}} sorry about former neighbor’s kid. It’s just so sad to see someone go down that path and not be able to do anything.
