ShadowFacts, I’m not going to let any last minute shenanigans slide. If you have anything to claim, you should probably do it now before I cause some irreparable damage.
Lightfoot, where do you stand on the vote leaders?

I all but did, actually. Reading your case against him, I do agree that his votes seem ‘safe’, and his sudden appearance at the mention of his name is noteworthy. I’m not going to vote for him Today, but it would be nice to see more of a contribution from him.
<underlining mine>
ShadowFacts,
You made this Post at 8:14 my time (PDT, GMT-7), which was a little more than 2 hours ago. Have you returned from your meeting? I’d like to hear your “more thoughts” while there’s still enough time in the Day to consider them.
I get the feeling Diver’s vote on septimus is meant specifically to spare ShadowFacts.
If he wanted to vote for septimus on that reasoning he should have done it earlier in the round.
On preview, sorry for the delay returning, I have been composing this post in between work stuff and it has taken a while…
OK, so I was hoping not to have to do this, but I am now tied for the lead and the person I am tied with I do not think should be lynched either. So, I am going to claim. Bear with me, it’s a little complicated. Here’s my assigned role:
Class: Rogue
Powers: When the first town-aligned power role dies, you assume their class and abilities. Regardless of their level, you start at level 1.
Alignment: Defenders of De’endee
Role: Backup
Win Condition: You win when all threats to the Defenders of De’endee are vanquished and at least one member of the Defenders of De’endee is still alive.
After special ed’s death, I received the following:
Night 2
You were the first to discover Special Ed’s head. Knowing you have little time to figure out what happened, you frantically search his room for anything useful. Eventually, you come up with a few leather-bound tomes. You hear the tell-tale sounds of activity outside, and disappear back into the shadows.
Back at your hiding place, you crack open the books. They’re a collection of incantations and spells, and you’re positive you can learn them.
Special Ed’s books have granted you three magical abilities, which may be used twice each. You may use one ability per day, and one per night. If these abilities fail for any reason, you may reuse them in the future. Your three abilities are:
A) MESSAGE - You can deliver a message of up to 15 words to any player. You are not allowed to reveal your identity. This power may be used at any time.
B) VOTING - You may increase the voting power of any player, duplicating their votes. This is a day ability.
C) BLOCK - You may target a player, completely preventing their actions for that night. This is a night ability.
So there you have it. I had been hoping to keep this quiet, but c’est la vie. I am happy to send someone a message (Power A) to confirm that I have this power. I realize that this would not confirm me as Town, but I would hope it would at least provide a presumption of innocence.
My goal in posting this now is in the hope that I will be given said presumption for the remainder of the day, and that people will look at Normal Phase’s pursuit of me in that light. I would very much like to see her lynched instead of myself or septimus. Among other things, I think it would be a major information boon. Please consider it.
PS. I have been given no information on whether **special ed **had used any of these powers to date.
That may be the most sensible thing you’ve said all Day.
I’m still not quite convinced by the case on **ShadowFacts **at the moment. I’m actually increasingly certain of my vote on **Texcat **owing to the fact that she hasn’t really done much to either defend herself or to make any arguments of her own. Of course, that creates a tie for 2nd place, which would potentially give the Scum even more of an opportunity to control the lynch (in the event that I am incorrect). I’m not prepared to do that just yet.
LightFoot, I would like very much to see a vote from you Today.
On preview, I see that **ShadowFacts **has claimed. I’m posting this now, and will them go back and evaluate the new information
I’m your biggest skeptic, ShadowFacts.
Send me such a message.
ShadowFacts,
Did you receive any information regarding leveling up when you received **Ed’s **powers?
I’m not sure I will be here for EOD
The case against Texcat holds water for me ( I have company so no time to go long on the quotes)
** Vote Texcat **
I’ll hold my second
Also, recommend you use that vote-increasing power now on Lightfoot, while you still live. That would prove two of your powers, and end all my speculation about you for the majority of the remainder of the game.
Especially since it is likely to save your neck and I’d rather have the person who has claimed detective have an additional vote for as long as she lives.
No, I did not. The quote above is the full extent of what I received.
I asked a follow-up question about the Voting power, which was whether it locked in when I used it or I could change my mind later, and was told that it locked in.
I have not used any powers yet.
Another question: What were Ed’s Role and Class?
ATPG, I am not going to use either power immediately and will not be pressured into doing so. I want to make sure the use is well thought-out and there is a discussion.
That said, I think Lightfoot is potentially a good target for both the Message power and the Voting power.
ON PREVIEW:
@SP: I did not receive that information. What you see above is the full boat, aside from my one follow-up question.
FWIW there was no information about leveling up in my PM
Wait a second.
Suppose ShadowFacts is a Lord of Slaughter with the ability to slaughter someone and steal their abilities?
He can then use special ed’s powers to give himself a pro-town cover role.
I say let him use his powers “for good” and then lynch him anyway.
You have to figure this is the sort of power the scumbags could have.
My eyes hurt
This smells funny. It sounds more like a Scum role. to me (I don’t know anymore than you do about this player)
I can’t find it but I think I remember there was a sample Town PM so the other consistancies may not be genuine
I have been in at least one game with a “universal backup” role.
Such roles are not unheard of and would make sense in a game like this.
I’m also balancing that against a detective, a bulletproof, and the fact that special ed may have had these powers to begin with, and we may have a doctor.
Eventually, one of these “town power roles” will be guilty with a cover role.
Universal backup is an excellent cover for a scum that can steal cover roles, and in a DnD setting where the Lords of Slaughter probably have very powerful abilities to counter the town’s powers, I’d wager “universal backup” could be exactly that kind of ability. Murder and copy.
I’d rate this as the likely explanation if ShadowFacts is scum, because I actually think this claim gets Shadow in trouble as soon as any of it turns out to be false. So I also think he has the powers he claims to have. I just do not automatically buy that it is a pro-town role when it could easily be a scum power.
Brilliant! I can use my Message power to… to… send happy thoughts your way? No, that’s not really all that “good.”
I know - I can use my Voting power to.. to… vote to lynch myself?
I don’t think you thought that one through.
What bothers me is that **ShadowFacts **PM says " you assume their class and abilities", but he has told us that he does not know **Ed’s **Class/Role.
That being said, there are a few possible reasons for this:
[ul]
[li]**Shadowfacts **is Scum (or 3rd-Party), and made up the PM, but made a mistake.[/li][li]**ShadowFacts **is Town and the Mod made a mistake by not supplying **Ed’s **full class/Role information when ShadowFacts assumed his role.[/li][li]**Ed’s **Class/Role are still ‘hidden’ by whatever power hid them from us last Night, so **ShadowFacts **received incomplete information. In this case, he might be any alignment [/li][/ul]
I think the possibility of the third item being correct is rather remote; however, the second cannot be discounted as there are numerous examples of this type of ‘Mod error’ in past games.
NETA: Are there still more than four of us playing this game?
Does anyone else have anything so say about ShadowFacts’ claim? Or anything else, for that matter?
