I don’t like any of the characters, and I don’t like any of the stories. No more Defiance for me.
It isn’t boring.
Has lots of problems; token Black guy who does nothing save act like a puppy about the daughter. Umpteen alien races; they could have a story line about each one. As someone pointed out, part of St. Louis is buried deeply enough to mine, and the arches are still up. I wonder if McDonald’s paid bribery for that. ![]()
The city underground was briefly explained in the first or second episode. It must have been, because I remember something about a quirk of the terraforming causing the city to sink and get formed over rather than destroyed like other cities, and the arch was thrust upward so it’s 1/3 buried or something. I couldn’t have made that up in my own head.
The Arch is build on a limestone ridge of sorts, so it’s possible it could’ve stayed elevated while everything around it sank. Of course, most of downtown St. Louis is also on that same limestone, and sinkholes aren’t unknown.
There is a really cool movie about the construction of the Arch that you can watch while waiting to go up in the Arch. The people doing art direction for this show should have gone and watched that.
I had my doubts when I saw the simultaneous game launch, still the pilot preview looked good.
After the pilot itself though I gave up. It felt as though I had been watching an SF B-movie. All those cliches thrown together, ugh.
The final “battle” sealed the deal for me though.
Yes but now they’ve got an actual River Tam clone.
I like Datak’s wife too. We call her Lady Macbeth, which I think I got from this site.
Well, Mahaloth got that one…
It’s a plot device, so it’s nigh-indestructible. Plus, in all the shows, it’s only partially-severed; the only place I’ve seen a flat-out gap is in a drawing on the website.
We watched the latest episode last night.
They seem to have borrowed from Stagecoach and Hombre.
Things worked out better for Joshua than they did for John Russell.

I just wanted to say that although Julie Benz still has a voice that makes me want to punch kittens, she has matured into one fine-lookin’ woman.
Jeesh, there’s no pleasing some of you guys.
I like this show and am gald it got renewed.
Also, I am in love with albino mom. I’d take a bath with her any day.
Well, yeah.
But one shouldn’t turn one’s back. ![]()
My wife and I started watching this OnDemand and we like it enough to keep watching. It isn’t great, but it is entertaining enough in my mind. The production quality certainly isn’t Game of Thrones, but it s better than I expected.
Are they just making the story arc up as they go? They take all the trouble to set up the ex-mayor as the big bad, then just kill her off in the b-plot of a wedding episode. Oh and by the way she’s an alien like that astronaut guy was! It’s almost like a bad fanfic someone would’ve written if the show had been canceled and ended with the episode that aired the week before.
Yeah, the writing has been really weak. Especially anything involving the Irathiants. I get embarrassed for the actors in those scenes. The young lovers are really awful, too. When I saw the episode title, I was hoping the groom was going to be killed off.
