Yeah, that and I’ve got to take deep breaths and remember he’s far from convicted at this point. Still, this is a damn good start…
Does this mean that the Republicans have to give back the five house seats that he underhandedly got for them?
I’m betting that Hastert is more than just a little bit happy, like Pinocchio when he got rid of his strings. He has the job because DeLay knew he was too “radioactive” to get it himself, after manipulating the Clinton impeachment that led to the departures only of 2 other Speakers. It has never been clear that Hastert had any real ability to operate independently of DeLay, nor is it clear even yet just who picked Dreier or why.
But now Hastert has the opportunity to show that he could be a capable President upon the removal of Bush and Cheney. DeLay’s departure just may have made their impeachments more politically possible, although certainly the 2006 Congressional elections will have a much stronger bearing on that.
Dreier is just as bad as Delay.
Interestingly enough, he’s not married but he lives with his male COS–and has done so for years (12? I think). His COS also makes over 100K/year–which, I understand, is much higher than the average COS salary.
I can’t imagine that Dobson and other…interested parties…would be pleased with a possible “closet case” acting as the House Majority Leader.
Great news.
Jon Stewart and the Daily Show are gonna have a field day with this.
I know he has been getting a lot of flack from a couple of radio talk show activists for a year or more for his do-nothing approach to the illegal immigration problem here in his district and the state of California as a whole.
As for the indictment, I had heard that the prosecutor is a liberal (in the liberalist county in Texas) who is trying to make a name for himself. He has done other indictments like this before and the judge has tossed one or two out for lack of merit. Like I said, I had heard this on a radio show out here. Haven’t searched the prosecutor’s background.
In other words, you’re just doing us the favor of passing on what some radio show host pulled out of his ass. The prosecutor is a Democrat. In Texas, that does not mean he’s a liberal.
Dreier is looking like a bit of a powder keg to me. This article is quite trashy, but it delivers.
He has won the Roy Cohn award from Blogactive.com
At least he didn’t get a blow job.
And **THAT ** mental image gives me the heebie-jeebies.
Ronnie Earle is 63 years old and has held one elective office or another since 1969. Over his career as Travis County District Attorney he has investigated as many Democrats as Republicans.
He already has a name for himself and is nearing the end of his long career of public service. Try, oh I don’t know, plugging his name into Google and reading the first search result before popping off like a dumbass.
Were the 3, count 'em, 3 admonishments of DeLay from the (GOP-controlled!) House Ethics Committee last year alone simply the actions of a partisan trophy-hunting prosecutor from Texas?
YR, the clue phone is ringing. Better answer it.
The Google ads right now? Three about Karl Rove and one (for bumper stickers) headlined “Speak through your rear end”.
My google ads are more topical.
The Reader must suspect that DeLay is reading.
I’m not sure how to take these ads:
Should Karl Rove Resign?
Reappearance of Christ
Karl Rove, Guilty?
Guess I’d better dig out my Bible and read Relevations.
One of my ads says “Prison Rape Elimination.”
I bet Mr. DeLay has a sudden interest in this one.
That’s odd. I’m getting the criminal defense ones too. The Rovians sound more interesting.
And that would be a bad thing because…?
Mine are two about President Bush and one about Hitler.
