It promises to be a fun bit of theatre no matter what. Either Dreier is promoted and outed simultaneously, the RR either has fits or displays their hypocrisy, while the non-RR GOP tells us it demonstrates their tolerance and inclusiveness; or Hastert backs down in another display of can’t-shoot-straight. We’ll find out how much the RR really controls the party anyway, now that Dreier’s name is out there.
So I guess he won’t be running for president?
Even scarier:
George W Bush
Meet 1000’s of beautifu single Republicans in your area!
Loopydude, be as jubilant as you want. I actually did a little dance and sang “De-lay got inDIIIcted, De-lay got inDIIIcted, nyah nyah, nyah nyah NYAH nyah!” Yes, yes, I’m very mature.
Geez, I can’t even keep up anymore. I need a Score Card.
Who is the major republican up for insider trading in a family medical company?
I found it.
GOP Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is under federal investigation for insider trading after the sale of his stock in a family-owned hospital company
At least I don’t fake it as truth, give me more credit than that.
Look, Otto…I really don’t think I deserve this type of response; we’ve gotten along well on other threads and gaming activities…even my son learned something from you. If anything, I am guilty of trying to do work and SD at the same time. I don’t have a pad of paper in the car to write names down of every issue at hand. That’s my fault. I only recalled the main parts. DeLay indicted. Prosecutor is liberal (or Democrat as TYM pointed out). Prosecutor making a name for himself. Judges have thrown out similar indictments before. End of story. Just because I don’t celebrate with jubilation like others here doesn’t mean I should get the pile-on. James Earl Jones (the actor)…I know; Ronnie Earle (who’s name was only mentioned once and then relabeled as “Prosecutor”)…I know not. Thanks for the Wikilink, BTW. We’ll see how this plays out. I’m not rooting for or against DeLay or Earle for that matter, I just want to see justice with fair temprament from fellow Dopers…I can dream…can’t I?
Ha…you got me there, Chief…Wanna go to a Who-dunnit party next Saturday?
That doesn’t mean anything. I’ve been under investigation for insider trading before, you’d be amazed how easy it is to get the regulatory people after you for a completely innocent transaction. And you’d also be surprised how easy it is to do something inappropriate without knowing it, a lot of the regulations out there are arcane and obscure.
Were you indicted based on the outcome of the investigation?
Nope, that’s about the average House COS salary. My guess it’s below average for the COS of the Majority Leader.
He instructed his trustees to sell all the stocks in his “blind trust” (that only contained stock for the family owned hospital company) to the tune of $2- $6 million.
from here
Well, here’s some more information for this supposedly partisan hack. Here’s the list of his previous prosecutions.
Man, why won’t that fucker back off the Republicans?!
My apologies. I guess that’s what I get for repeating rumors, eh? He does live with him though.
Man oh man…Can you just imagine? Bush with record-low approval ratings due his bumbling idiocy handling both war and homland disaster, Delay indicted for felony campaign finance conspiracy, Frist under investigation for insider trading…I’m salivating. There’s loads of blood in the water, comint out of both the White House and two chambers on the Hill, running right down from the top. Oh come, ye sharks of retibutive wrath!
Try more like $156,600/year - just $400 a year less than Rove or WHITE HOUSE Chief of Staff, Andrew Card (in 2004). They’re just a bit more now, at $161K, getting raises this year. Average House CoS salaries are in the $80s and $100K in the Senate, according to the Career Services Center at The Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, a division of Johns Hopkins University.
ABC reports Roy Blunt is in as new leader and sharing duties with Dreier.
Could all these revelations be harbingers of the big Pubbie Flameout we’ve dreampt of? It’s been more than 30 years since Watergate. We’re long overdue…
Do you think the vast majority or Republican supporters even watch the news? Much less a news program that would report any of this? They’ll throw “the Dems are trying to remove the bible and replace it with gay marriage” at 'em and they’ll swallow it whole.
Actually, Ronny Earle has prosecuted way more Democrats than Republicans. But that little inconvenient fact has not prevented Tom DeLay (R - Creepy) from referring to Earle as a “partisan fanatic”. Clearly, reality and Tom Delay are not on speaking terms.
Its sad! Even the news reports that mention that fact still manage to somehow slip in a thinly veiled accusation that it is a partisan attack.
If I were the DA, when asked if indicting Delay was because of a personal grude, I’d be tempted to respond:
“Well, it sure ain’t 'cause I like the son of a bitch!”
It’s a great day for Democrats & some Moderates, but I hope the charges stick.
And to rain on the parade just a little bit more…too bad this didn’t happen last October…when not much was different but Katrina’s exposure of FEMA.
Ooooh…the schaeden is strong in this thread! I’m drooling, can’t you tell?
