DeLay indicted

Haven’t laughed so hard since they shot Ol’ Yeller.

I was wondering when you were going to show up. Figured you were down at the tavern buying rounds to celebrate.

Gun jumpers…

I know, I know, it’s early in the process, and it could take a long time before a verdict is handed down. And the partisan chickens could easily come home to roost if he’s exonerated. But until then, let’s enjoy his political castration for as long as it lasts.

Interesting to see how Fox News & etc cover this. Thoughts?

As you might expect, the main story today is heavily slanted toward the indictment being partisan politics. Any suggestion otherwise is buried in the last few paragraphs of the story. Even then it’s presented in the context of Democrats hounding DeLay.

'Bout the closest thing to a tavern nearabouts is a Brannigans, a Champps and some other God-forsaken yuppie fern bar. If I ever need to drink that bad, I’ll quit.

Second off, buy rounds? That’s “Second Coming” level celebration. But there is a package store not far away, and I got my cronies at the SDMB to snicker with, so it all works… Just pounded a bump and told Eddy and Guinn a couple of Aggie jokes…

Thing is, it isn’t that important whether the indictment goes or doesn’t. DeLay (R-Undead) has got away with murder for years. At least part of that is the result of Texas political culture that tends to wink at political corruption with a “good ol’ boys will be boys” attitude. The most important thing that can happen is attention and sunshine, the most marvelous of disinfectant.

I know I’ve raved and snorted about this before, but the influence of Texas on American politics is wildly out of proportion. Texas is warm home for some of the most extreme tighty-rightys, the kind of folks who make honest Republicans cringe. Remember Upton Sinclair? “Two things no civilized person should ever be forced to witness: what really goes into sausage, and how a Texas politician makes his daily bread.”

Oh, almost forgot! What’s an Aggie seven course dinner? Six pack of Pearl and a road kill possum.

I hope they hang DeLay by his balls, just like they did Nancy Pelosi.

Trying to picture that exploded my Imagino-Scope.

I watched Brit Hume and Chris Matthews (immediately after) and Chris reported it pretty much the same way. This does look like partisan Texas politics, and the guest that Chris interviewed mostly concurred.

Anyone want to bet on a conviction? I’ll take all comers that he isn’t convicted.

From the post I was replying to I was under the impression that Bill Frist was under investigation, not indicted. It’s Tom DeLay that is indicted and it’s not for insider trading…

I’ll bet with you, I’m a pessimist as well.

Tom DeLay couldn’t be convicted (and I emphasize convicted) if he dragged out your Granny and impaled her on the 50 yard line, half-time at the TX-OK game.

That is a fact. I have no gauzy illusions otherwise.

I rejoice with the righteous, that sunlight falls upon Christopher Lee, and verily, his hand shriveleth… Hallelujuah, brothers and sisters, pals and gals. Some times the good guys win, or at least the bad guys fuck up.

If you’re too smart for faith, hope will have to do.

He’s a masterful politician in a politician’s world. He didn’t create the rules, he just exploited them. I don’t particularly like the guy or his politics, but if you can’t stand the heat, get out of Congress-- it ain’t for the faint of heart. The Dems are doing today pretty much what the Pubs did back in the early 90s. It’s a great strategy for the minority party, and it just might work. The Pubs are practically handing the reigns of power back to the Dems the way they’re mucking things up. The pendulum just might be swinging…

You’ll come for the schaeden, you’ll stay for the freude.

I think it’s great. I’ll have a whole NEW bunch of people to bitch about!!! Yippeeee!

They had Coulter on to comment. What did she say? I don’t know, I don’t listen to her.

Damn, I just tuned into The Daily Show and so far, nothing-they’re too busy snarking on Michael Brown.

Of course, maybe he said something in his opening remarks?

In his opening he comment and promised a detailed attack tomorrow. It was funny.

Probably something like “Libruls bad, thank gawd for NeoCons. I killed a baby once after I walked past a poster for a Michael Moore movie (that fat fucking fuck) - what more proof do you need that Libruls are destroying the universe?”
