I hated the Banana Splits. My sister loved them. Go figure.
One banana, two banana, three banana, four…
Potassium, potassium and more
Hmm, seems like I missed one banana…
No message.
Works in parts of South Africa, too.
Being, like most of us except Cecil, at least partially ignorant, but not completely stupid, I am delighted to stumble across a post addressing a problem/benefit/concern/process that I had never even heard of, as long as the post includes sufficient background or citations to allow me to charge down the correct rabbit hole on the internet. To this end, I am becoming an expert on variants of the once-popular playground torture game King of the Hill.
In the USA perhaps, but this board has a world-wide following.
True, and points well taken, but as we learned from Tucker Carlson and the right wing, ‘sealioning’ is a thing.

“Well, I saw a small train when I went to the zoo last summer.”
“What’s a zoo…?”
“It’s a place where you can see wild animals in cages.”
“No it’s not. Prove to me that’s what a zoo is.”
“Ok, here’s an article.”
“Maybe that’s just one zoo. Maybe there are no other zoos. Maybe it’s just a person’s last name.”
“Well, here are links to zoos in several major cities…”
“Ah-ha…! Major cities! There are no zoos in places other than those.”
“No… here’s a link to a zoo in a rural location.”
“Prove to me that that place isn’t just a one off…!”
“Well… ok… pick a state. I’m sure there’s a zoo that’s not that far from you. Here’s a link.”
“Ah-ha…! You’re lying! It says it’s closed.”
“Well, you’re posting at 10 pm at night. Very few zoos have hours at night.”
“Isn’t that convenient…! All you Liberals lie…”
Fuck Wallabies, I Will?
And nobody outside the U.S. has ever watched an American TV show.
Well … definitely, my nephew, Alexander, if nobody else.

AkTuAlLy “BMW” is an initialism. Acronyms are pronounced as words.
(At this point someone steps in to insist that they and everyone they know has always pronounced it as “Bemwa”.)
No, but I will now.
K.

My thread was for King of the Hill fans. No, I didn’t think every Doper had exposure to King of the Hill, but enough that my topic would be of interest to enough people. And my thread was originally posted in Cafe Society, but it was moved by a mod. Yeah, I guess I should’ve edited my post once it was moved to IMHO, because the tone changed from a pop culture topic to a general chat topic. But What Exit? already included “King of the Hill” in my title.
That has a name? Well, I’ll be damned!
I felt like I was being sealioned when I was trying to educate people about the practice of “advantage play” in casinos.
FWIW my annoyance is less with your OP than Snarky’s pissant comment. That said, I wasn’t a fan of the show but am familiar enough. The character name out of context would not immediately make me think of the show; in context of the show name I know who it is and what the pattern is, and had just thought earlier in the week that someone I interfaced with sounded just like “that character from King of the Hill” …

It wouldn’t have hurt to put a clip from the show in your original post, even if you assumed everyone was familiar with the show. It would have helped demonstrate your question, and also, people would have found it entertaining.

Back in 1968 or '69 we had the Banana Splits record album. The blurb on the back said, “If you’ve never heard of the Banana Splits, welcome back from the Arctic Circle.” How long ago those days seem now…

I hated the Banana Splits. My sister loved them. Go figure.
Don’t recognize the name or song at all. Back then I was much more a typical 5th or 6th grader with typical interest in current music; not the tiresome media hermit I am today. Not sure why I don’t recognize them. Heck, I grew up in Los Angeles for gosh sake, where everything was on TV. And yet, assuming I’ve identified the right vid, I have zero recollection of the show ever being broadcast.

I remember them being on when I was a little kid. I was born well after the show was originally broadcast, but the show continued to be in syndication until 1982.
That show’s theme song is stuck in my head from that time, that and The Great Space Coaster. I’ll never forget either one.
Also, a cover of the song was featured in one fight scene in the movie Kick Ass.
Warning: Pretty graphic violence, really NSFW language as well.
Looking at the effort to just say “re: cartoon King Of The Hill” vs. the time it took to start and respond to this thread, I would have to certainly agree that time has been wasted.
