No, that’s not what they do. Security people do not push reporters to the ground. And after viewing this again, it appears that IS what Meehan did. You can see it at about :05 in the video. Neither do they physically deter a reporter from walking down the street holding a tape recorder above his head. The fact that all this is routinely NOT done is corroborated by the fact that Meehan has apologized for his behavior, as lame and dishonest as it is.

You cannot prove that abortion, open borders, legalizing SSM is a good thing or a bad thing. You look at the information and put it through the filter of the values instilled in you over many years. I look at, say, the abortion issue, and come to a conclusion that I think makes the most sense for our society. I know that others who disagree with me do the same calculation. It doesn’t make them stupid or bad people. I realize that they are starting with a different set of assumptions that I am. That they have a different hierarchy of what is most important. You don’t understand that. You demonstrate time and again that you get frustrated with people who don’t see things the way they should and you then spew the ad hominems. Curiously, do you think that is helpful in any way? To the debate? To having them see things more the way you do. It’s counter productive and imbecilic. As I said. You are what you despise. An incident occurred in Boston in which the aide to the democratic candidate for the senate intentionally knocked a credentialed conservative reporter to the ground, then physically impeded his passage on a public street. I characterize his actions as thuggish. Like the word or not, it’s a fair description. I posted in GD, asking what posters thought should happen to Meehan, and offered my take. A few posters have answered. Most have become apoplectic over the OP, spending an astounding amount of time and energy attacking me.
Even if one disagrees with my description of Meehan’s behavior or bristles at my linking it to other thuggish behavior by those on the left, the level of vitriol is amazingly out of whack. I can only chalk it up to the degree to which this board skews left and detests, as Shodan pointed out, any recognition of misdeeds for their side.
On the upside, this thread is a good piece of evidence of SDMB bias. Which, of course, doesn’t exist.
