Really JohnT? That’s what you came up with?
It’s what this thread deserves. You want me to waste my best material on you?
It’s crystal clear.
Ah, that’s the problem then. Inbred boy probably thinks clarity is a Liberal Conspiracy.
This seems to have taken all the stupid, thoughtless notions I’ve read so far in this thread and turned them into an amalgam of idiocy.
I really wish I had pretended to understand your post instead of asking for clarity. It’s only caused you to keep injecting stupid into my thread.
Well, spell the alternative out for me: let’s say, for the sake of argument, that the Democrats had shut down the government over DACA — and that the Republicans had responded with a casual “uh, okay.” Time passes. What do you think happens next?
People just realize that the Republicans are just plain no-good meanies, the entire country turns against them, and it’s Morning in America again!
Like I said, this is just Gaslight Trolling. Pretend to take a false position just to troll people and call them all stupid.
By a guy too stupid to understand half of what is being said to him.
Time to bow out and let him wallow in his own gravy.
Trump did “the job” on DACA. Stop lying.
It’s like the OP is Stupid Don Rickles, without the charm and humor.
Dude. In the shutdown deal, McConnell said he would allow open voting on DACA amendments - and he actually did! You could knock me over with a feather, but he did. And they all failed because none got 60 votes. They wouldn’t have had 60 votes if the Democrats had “forced” a vote by shutting down the government either. You know why? There’s no compromise bill to be had because Republicans don’t want to pass the DREAM Act or equivalent and because Democrats don’t want to pass the Steven Miller version or equivalent and they are at an impasse.
Further, any of Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan or Donald Trump can unilaterally kill any deal they don’t like, and none of those three give a rat’s ass about what Democrats want or about shutdowns. Talk of Democratic “leverage” on this was always an illusion. As long as Republicans control all the relevant veto points, there won’t be any solution for the DREAMers as long as Republicans as a whole don’t want there to be one.
I agree. Americans care about the Dreamers, but it’s not a top tier issue.
Vladimir, is that you?
I was only mildly aware of the OP’s existence before this thread, but now I find him fascinating in the sense i normally reserve for spectacles on the scale of a derailed fertilizer train careening through a sewage-treatment plant.
I’d never heard of him, but his fiery crash and burn is spectacular.
Thank you for directly insulting me. I wish more people would come up with something I find funny.
I appreciate the stupid things you’ve both written and I appreciate your not attempting to justify the Democratic party leadership.
And here is why we are in this predicament today. The sheer hopelessness of this post makes it pretty clear how fucked the Dreamers are. Keep looking to the future, maybe we’ll help them out by 2050 or so.
You mean looking forward to winning an election and having governing power? Yes – hopefully in 2018 and 2020. You haven’t presented an alternative path. I’d love to see it. But if you’re just interested in shitting on advocates for Dreamers that appear to disagree with you on the best path forward, then carry on and I’ll bow out.
How, precisely, do you figure that shutting the government down — for a week, or for two; or for a month, or whatever — of late would’ve helped them out in 2018?
Explain to me what you think would’ve happened: there’d be a shutdown, and it’d last for a while; and, then, ah, who does what, exactly?
Dude, get some anger management. Good grief.
