Another vote for Mitchum – the men’s unscented. The one that’s green. Lady Mitchum gel works OK too. I switch between both, depending on my mood.
I tend to perspire heavily, so most of the other brands mentioned don’t work for me.

Me, too, on the Mitchum. But this last time, I bought the “Hydro” solid and I don’t like it at all. It feels very wet (duh!) going on and it didn’t do the job for me as well as the other Mitchum varieties I’ve used.
I also vouch for Secret Platinum… the semi-solid in unscented. It’s wonderful.
I use Dove invisible solid, powder scent. I used to use Secret, for many, many years, and was very happy with it. I always had problems with little whitehead type bumps under my arms. I switched to Dove when it first came out (darn those coupons) and within a few months I realized the little white pus thingys were gone. I haven’t done the experiment of going back to Secret to see if that was the cause… I’m just happy they are gone. Draw your own conclusions.
Sure, it works for me. And I like the original scent. I’ve tried others, but I always go back, this is the one that works. (for me)
I’m paranoid about having BO. I’ve tried every female deodorant I can think of. I currently alternate between these two:
Secret Platinum with Olay moisturizers. - My armpits actually stay dry! The scent doesn’t change by the end of the day. It stays clear once it dries and smells decent. Regular Secret Platinum dried out my armpits (Flaky armpit skin - ). No problems with the Olay version.
Dove Ultimate Clear - also works well. Fresh scent - nothing overpowering. Still smells the same at the end of the day. Goes on clear and stays clear. It doesn’t work as well as Platinum with Olay on the 105 degree (Farenheit) days we’ve been having lately. I’d say it’s good for 90 degrees and below.
I use the Mitchum unscented clear gel. It’s not actually unscented and it will stain your clothes, but it’s less of a problem than the other popular deodorants I’ve tried.
If I want to be serious about deodorant/antiperspirant, I’ll use Certain Dri. You probably won’t find it in grocery stores, but it should be available in drugstores. It’s a minor PITA, which is why I don’t use it on a regular basis–you have to put it on the night before, then walk around for a while with your arms held up above your head so the stuff can dry thoroughly–if you don’t do that, it generates (IIRC) a mild hydrochloric acid solution on your skin and you end up itching horribly. That being said, used properly it’s vastly more effective than Mitchum.
I’ve used the Certain Dri, but I did have the problem of it itching horribly; also, it seemed to clog the pores in my armpits and they had little red bumps all over the place. Not really attractive.
I just tried Arm & Hammer yesterday, and it worked very well. I was walking outside for a good part of the day (it was about 105), and sweating quite a bit. I used to use Secret and then Dove, and both stopped working for me.
Top choice: Almay unscented clear gel
Second: Lady Mitchum/Mitchum for Women clear gel
I feel like I have tried every deoderant on the market for women and a good number of mens deoderants as well. I decied to try the Sure Unscented solid.
I sweat like it is going out of style and end of the day, no smellyness. This is even when working outside all day in 100 + degree heat.
As for the marks on clothes, I have only noticed a little bit on my black T-shirts, but usually when I put a shirt on immediately after putting the deoderant on.
The spray version also works fantastically.
I used to use Arrid Extra Dry (women) but now I am required to wear black and it definitely left white marks. (Yeah, I could put on my clothes like a human and wouldn’t have so much of a problem.) I’ve recently tried the Degree Platinum (Little Black Dress Approved, or whatever) and while it doesn’t typically leave marks, it isn’t as effective as Arrid. I live in Florida, so its a kabillion degrees and 99% humidity.
I’ll give Mitchum a try. Never had much luck with the Secret stuff.
It’s a bummer realizing that as a woman, you don’t just glow. I use the phrase “I glow like a race horse.”
I picked up some of the Mitchum. I spend my Saturdays working at a barn, so tomorrow, I’ll put it to the test. If it can last through my hours of sweating, it can do anything.
How did the Mitchum test go?
Mitchum all the way. Remember the old commercial, ‘so strong you can skip a day’?
It’s true. That stuff practically seals your armpits.
I don’t know if the Mitchum instructions are still the same, since I’ve been using it for so many years I don’t pay any attention any more, but when I started using it they recommended using it at night, instead of in the morning. They also suggested using it for four days (nights) straight before skipping any days. I never skipped any days when I was young, but I think I could have. By the end of high school I could look in my closet and pick out the dresses and blouses I had before the Mitchum and the ones I got afterward. I’ll never use anything else. And all these years later it’s gotten to the point where I barely use any at all. Of course, that might just be age.
It’s the green one, the roll-on, which I guess is the men’s one, but it works, so who cares who it’s for.
And oh, yeah, how did it work?
It works pretty well. My only complaint is that I got the gel, and it seems to ooze up into the cap somehow, so that when I open it, some kind of goes flying out of the cap and onto whatever is nearby. It also seems to take awhile to dry when I put it on. However, it works.
I had the gel oozing problem and now after I use it I crank the screw backwards a little to create some space for expansion. It helps.
And to everyone who wonders if you can skip the next day after a while, it’s true. I recently had to not wear any antiperspirant for ten days and it was 4 or 5 days before I sweated or smelled at all. I had been using Mitchum for at least 6 months.
