Deodorant

I’ve tried different deodorants, and have yet to find one I’m satisified with. Here are my demands:
I want both antipersperant and deodorant in one.

If it’s a roll-on, it has to dry within a reasonable amount of time.

I don’t want residue on my clothes.

It needs to be effective.
Anyone have any favorite deodorants to suggest?

I’m a Mitchum guy. Notice I don’t say Mitchum Man, which is their current stupid ad campaign, but this stuff is perfect. It comes in actually really unscented, and it lasts as long as I do between showers. It comes in gel, roll on, and white nasty solid, whatever’s your preferance. I think they do a women’s version as well, but I was turned on to it by a woman who used the men’s version. Look for the mostly all green deodorant.

Another vote for Mitchum’s. I use the clear gel, it’s the only product I’ve ever used that didn’t stain clothing, and it’s quite effective.

Kiehls’ deodorant/antipersperant is freakishly effective. Kinda squirts out like a lotion, though. You get used to it. It works so well it scares me.

I am a big fan of Dove. It works well and doesn’t smell like department store perfume.

I use the Mitchum clear gel and it works just great for me.

Dry Idea - roll-on or gel.

Whatever you do, stay away from Degree. As useless as a 4MB memory stick.

Well, Monica, I’m imagining that all these guys chiming in provides no help.

I like Secret Platinum. There are two formulas I’m aware of. A solid, which goes on clear and works well and a semi-solid which goes on a little more white but disappears when you rub it in. I always buy unscented. Their powder scent isn’t horribly overpowering, so that’s an option too. I’ve tried lots and settled on this brand for 10+ years now and have been quite happy.

I’ve used Degree for years and have found it the best of the solids. My wife was getting frustrated with hers- I think it was Secret- and then she found Degree for women. She’s now a satisfied convert.

I’ll add another vote for Degree. I think it works well and isn’t overly-scented.

I am a shameless flip flopper. I flux between Dove, Secret and Sure ( all unscented) Whatever I have a coupon for or is on sale. Secret is getting too expensive.

In the winter, I give my pits a break from the aluminum ( that would be the anti persperant part) and use Tom’s of Maine (unscented, which it smells vaguely like sausage ymmv).

I use Gillette clear gel. You have to put it on a few minutes ahead of dressing to give it time to dry, but it really works well and leaves no marks on my clothing.

(Hit submit too soon)

I received a sample of Ban. I tried it. It doesn’t work at all. Useless.

Here is another vote for Degree. I like their soft solid and I just recently tried the Ultra Clear which is awesome. I use that when I work out and after sweating for two hours, I still don’t stink. I also wanted to see if it was as clear as stated so I rubbed it directly on a piece of black cloth and…voila, no mark.

I just switched from Dry Idea to Dove (solid). Doesn’t mark my clothes, is relatively inexpensive and works. It’s hard to find the unscented where I live tho. I hate deodorants with smells.

I’ll third the Mitchum, and I recommend the clear gel. It dries quickly, leaves no icky residue, lasts forever, and the unscented version really has no scent.

I certainly don’t mind using men’s deodorant, provided it’s still effective for me.

I, too, am a fan of unscented stuff.

Fourth-ing the Mitchum. I use the women’s gel in the powder-fresh scent, since that’s what I’m used to, and it works better than anything I’ve ever used before. Prior to this, I loved Secret Platinum Protection, but that left way too much residue. My husband uses the unscented version, and it really does have no scent.

I’ve noticed that the % of the aluminum-containing compound (I can’t remember the exact name) seems to be related to how well the deodorant works. The higher the %, the more effective it seems. The Mitchum is the highest I’ve found; it’s at 20%. Some go as low as 14%.

I’m also a Mitchum Gal, although I use the guy’s version of unscented clear gel (I have more luck finding the random “get 25% more free!” ones in the guy dark green one).

Hmm. I use Tom’s of Maine unscented stuff, but I’m not someone who sweats a lot, so YMMV.
