I’ll second that notion. When I read my posts in German they sound really clumsy sometimes. Maybe my brain just switches to SDMB English when I am here (I spend so much time worrying about my grammar and spelling that it’s hard switching that off even when I post in German).
Good thing this thread isn’t in the Pit. There’s just something fundamentally wrong about “geißfelchen”

In no way do I intend to debase the skiing prowess of a whole nation, I’ve just been run over one too many times by screaming Dutch ladies. Which couldn’t have been Coldfire. Off the hook.

Oh, and “Grüß Gott” should be used with caution. Anywhere north of the Danube it’ll get you laughs, looks and the answer “Wenn ich ihn sehe.” (Been there, done that)
Hier in München kann man es natürlich jederzeit und gerne verwenden. Auch ein herzhaftes “Servus!” wird immer gern gehört.

I, too, cringe at the lack of skiing skills most Dutchmen display. Luckily, I’m not one of them. But be honest: aren’t we awfully polite and friendly, as we run you over?

Universe, Wien hat mir ziemlich gut gefallen, aber. . . er sein. . es ist schwer zu verklaren. Ich verstehe warum Freud und Psychoanalyse haben in Wien entwickelt. Schoene Stadt, verruckte Leute. Stimmt das? Ich habe Kunstgeschichte uzw gestudiert, und dafür war es ausgezeichnet.

Coldfire, as I have never been run over by a Dutchman or a skier of any other nationality, I won´t dispute your skiing skills, which are no doubt higher than mine (i.e. nil).
I´ve run into enough drunk Dutch people in Tyrol, though… and in the Netherlands. No comparison. I must say, the mountains do something for you folks.
Diese Unterhaltung wäre leichter sein, wenn sie wirklich eine Unterhaltung wäre. Ich wünsche, dass ich hier mein Deutsch üben könnte, aber ich habe eigentlich keine Ahnung worüber ich sprechen soll. Weil ich nicht viel mit den englischen Threads mache, ist es besonders schwer für mich etwas hier zu schreiben. Vielleicht soll ich einfach hier aufhören, sodaß jemand mir sagen könnte, welche Fehler ich geschrieben habe.
