If you examine his beliefs closely, you will find that he believes in the freedom to have things done his way. That’s called Authoritarianism.
Untrue. DT wasn’t being hyperbolic; rather, he defended the statement as being fundamentally true. To dismiss this as mere hyperbole is a severe misrepresentation of what DT claimed.
Worst thing about Der Trihs is that I don’t hate simply everything about him. I’d like to just ignore him, but I make it a point of not ignoring someone who’s smart enough to possibly be right.
of course with his refusal to ever, ever admit he’s wrong and his consistent damnation of all things Military, American, Religous, or God forbid all of the above, then I guess it’s just a bit of nasty that has to go along with the smart, but I do think he’s a smart guy.
Just wish he’d tone it down a bit. All of those who serve or have served in the past aren’t automatically rapists and baby-killers and it’s quite insulting to assume we have no brains.

I wasn’t going to wade into this, but I have to respond to this.
I don’t like people who are intentionally offensive. I have no interest in standing in a shit-storm to talk to anyone and I insist that people be minimally civil or I just won’t engage them, period. I think I have been pretty upfront with this as a position and I know I’ve been consistent in applying it. I’m not saying I’m the acme of civility and respect on every occasion – I know I am not – but then I also extend to everyone else the privilege to stop talking to me when I offend them, am on notice that I am being offensive, and intentionally choose not to stop. So it’s not like I am claiming some high ground that no one else can take.
I have no problem with “liberalism,” and I certainly don’t see that philosophy as something requiring apology or repentance, any more than any other philosophy. But there is nothing “ostensibly” abrasive or “somewhat hyperbolic” about Der Trihs’s style; it is flat-out abrasive and I see little indication he intends his words to be taken as hyperbole. So to the extent his posts give me “the vapors” (whatever the hell that means), it is not at all what he says, it is 100% how he says it. I might in fact be able to “understand the core of his thesis,” “intelligent reader” that I flatter myself I am, but I am under no obligation to dig through shit for diamonds.
I have no dog in this fight – he can post all day long every day for all I care, anyone who doesn’t like him can ignore him, as I mostly do – but it’s complete BS to construe all distaste for his posting style as fear of or stupidity about his pet philosophies.

Anyway, I happy to see you’ve agreed with one of my points in that it’s not typically what **Der Trihs ** says that raises the ire of many readers, but how he chooses to say it. I can’t speak for him, but I’d wager if all American troops decided today to disobey orders en masse, lay down their arms, and refuse to be the instruments of the continued prosecution of the illegal war perpetrated on the citizenry of Iraq any further **Der Trihs ** would cease in his desire to see their entrails on a spit.

I fail to see why this is controversial. Wasn’t that the deal? Support for the war insofar as WMD will appear. If that condition fails all decent and reasonable people applaud every blow to the US presence in Iraq.
