I know Der Trihs likes to portray himself as the defender of the downtrodden against the horrible right-wingers but truth be told, he’s almost as bigoted as New Deal Democrat and a host of others.
It’s just that the people he has issues with aren’t blacks, but are instead women.
In a recent thread he attacked a female poster after she asked:
I should add that I am far more of an “other” than he will ever be considered and I’ve never seen any evidence that most women view me as a “monster” or “potential rapist” and find his whining as asinine as I do people ranting about how most blacks are thugs, criminals, or rapists.
I’m also reminded that he’s the guy who said he believed that he should videotape every time he had sex with a woman to make sure she didn’t falsely accuse him of rape.
Now, I don’t know why he feels the way he does, but in my experience the vast majority of men who have such bigoted opinions of women feel this way due to persistent rejection from women who are fairly good judges of character or, to put it more crudely, having a difficult time getting laid.
Eh, where I went to university in Australia (in the late 80s, to mid 90s), the university student newspaper had a footnote at the bottom of every front page saying “All men are capable of rape!” in bold.
I never heard a student or employee of the university mention it (either as objectionable or as commendable). It was just there.
I thought it very strange, but I don’t know whether a woman or a man was responsible for writing it and including it in every edition.
Do you deny that there are a vocal sub set of women who hold those views?
If not then this pitting appears to be over the size of this sub set, whether it is a minority or a majority
oh and … “women who are fairly good judges of character” … Have you seen some of the monsters “some” women stick with because they know that they are good deep down, their judgement like mens judgement varies from person to person
Der Trihs is an extremely abrasive ideologue who, based on his posts here, can only see the world in black and white. In my experience the people who are like that tend to be very caustic in their interpersonal relationships, in addition to being frankly weird and unsettling. All this combines to mean Der Trihs is potentially an adult male virgin, or alternatively has been laid a very small number of times but has never held a relationship together. This, over many years, would I’m sure create extreme resentment towards men.
I think there are even a few dating threads out there where he complained obliquely about how women basically are only interested in abusive men and etc.
I think Der Trihs is interesting, makes good arguments and is intelletually stimulating. He can indeed be abrasive, but would not qualify for a top ten position in that ranking in my opinion. He tends to be a bit black/white and uses hyperbole a lot, but it’s still on an intellectual level.
I think this pit thread is a bit lame. Speculating on his sex life etc… not very mature. All in all I think Der Trihs contributes in a positive way to this board, wheras this thread does not.
