Desperate Housewives 10/28

The neighborhood association is none too pleased when one household sports an unusual decoration on their front lawn.

I’m betting this will be a good one!

And the gays slither into a near-central role as Keepers of the Secret of Chicago.

Chicago. Didn’t Bettey Badapple and her brood hail from Chicago? Wisteria Lane is quite the dumping ground for Chicago refuse. I imagine there must be billboards all along the Magnificent Mile, perhaps sponsored by Edie’s real estate agency.

And what do we think Doctor Tightpants got up to in Chicago? He’s a gyno so the obvious answer is “those things doctors aren’t supposed to do with their lady patients,” but perhaps that’s so obvious that the show won’t swing that way. Ooh, wasn’t there a fertility specialist a few years ago who got in seventeen different kinds of trouble because he was swapping in his sperm for the donated sperm? They kinda did that with Sho Mei a couple seasons ago but that was apparently an accident.

I can’t decide whether John-with-the-different-hair is still hot. I know he’s gone through some personal problems since leaving the show coughrehabcough coughmanboobscough and his face looks very different. That was Jesse Metcalf tonight, right?

It most certainly was.

The best episode in a long while IMO. Witty, wise and smart. They let the characters act in character without making them charicatures.

Good ep—agreed.

It was Metcalfe but he looked very different from season 1.

I was cracking up at the scenes in the old folks’ community. I have taken water aerobics with ladies who looked exactly like the ones in the pool.

Metcalfe looked horrible compared to what he looked like on season one, but he looked a lot better than I’ve seen him look in candid pictures on gossip sites recently. I don’t find his character very interesting, anyway, and won’t miss him if he doesn’t come back.

I’d certainly like to see some more Nathan Fillion, though. Good god is that man attractive.

There’s really nothing left for the character. He and Gabby had the affair and it ended. Gabby tried to renew t. John tried to renew it. Carlos has forgiven both of them. Futher appearances wouldn’t serve any purpose to the show.

Go watch the Firefly episode Trash if you haven’t and you’ll see about as much of him as you might care to.

“I’d certainly like to see some more Nathan Fillion, though. Good god is that man attractive.” - So true, shy guy, so true.

I thought John simply looked appropriately older. I didn’t notice any degredation of his looks. Maybe I’m not the best authority on that, but still.

I heart Bree! The whole outbidding Gramma was superb!

I tried to grab some screenshots from ABC’s player and realized once again what a piece of shit their player is. It would never stop at the moment I clicked pause and so I could not capture the shots that really showed how much he’s aged in just the last year. There’s a scene in the previews from last season and he looks several years younger in it. I mean, he still looks way better than I ever did on the best day of my life but in comparison to last year or how he looked in season one? Busted.

Desperate is probably my favorite show on tv right now and I must say that this season is off to a great start. I loved the incident with the fountain and how that shaped the episode. I’m definitely curious to see what happened with the new family that brought them back to Wisteria Lane and I hope we find out some more clues soon. As for Jesse Metcalfe, I’ve never been a big fan of him in the first place but I thought he looked good last night. Definitely a bit older and more mature but I don’t think that he needs to keep popping up.

I thought he looked better than he used to. You know, like a grown up, as he actually is - he’s almost 29.

I really liked how Bree messed with her daughter’s head to get what she wanted, and I’m suspicious of the decision about the treehouse. Good episode all around.
