Desperate Housewives 11/5

I called Nora dying last week when they hinted that someone would die. I hated her character and I’m glad she’s gone but I loved her “you stupid bitch” and “hurry up, I haven’t got all day” lines.

I’ve always liked Laurie Metcalf, I guess it’s because she’s a successful actress that doesn’t fit the typical “beauty is everything” mold. I thought she played her part very well. This is one of the very few shows that actually gets a belly laugh out of me almost every week. The only other one I can think of is AFV, but I often watch 60 Minutes and miss most of AFV.
Whenever DH puts in a dramatic scene I’m always waiting for the punch line. It did get a little slow at the end of last season, but I heard they got Marc Cherry to come back and rev it up. So far, so good.

“AFV?”

Americans Fat, Very? Anna’s Furry Vertebrae?

I loved this episode! This show has become much, much better this season because it’s gone back to its roots of being batshit crazy. What could be better than Carlos and Gabby destroying the house. With a chainsaw! Absolutely nuts.

Favourite line: I didn’t beat her. I pushed her down the stairs. In self-defence.

Laurie Metcalf was awesome. Here’s hoping I’m never around someone who gets cheated on and decides to kill random people because her husband is locked in a room. And she’s too stupid to shoot the lock like in every other TV show.

I was listening and not watching the conversation with the neighbour. So ice cream chucking man has the invalid sister?

Hahaha! I was thinking along the same lines: “How awful to die like that . . . in that outfit.”

My reactions to Nora getting shot in the chest (I had no spoiler info re: deaths):

“Holy crap!”
“Wow, she’s really gonna die!”
“YAY!!!”

Anyone else think Sunday-school lady went a bit far? Sure, Caroline was grappling with the can-chucker, but once a hostage had control of the gun, what real threat was she? Maybe a “Hold it!” was in order before a bullet to the brain, yeah?

Anyway, it must be fun to write for a loony satirical soap: “Nora’s really too obnoxious. How do we get rid of her? Fill her full of lead? Why not?”

I cried too. Susan got me going with the “The last thing I said to her was that she was a disappointment!” (I can’t think of much worse than being powerless while my child was in mortal danger), then the closing dream scene. Good to know I’m not the only nancy-girl here.

Good ep. In a way I’m sorry they killed off Laurie Metcalf; she’s been great in everything I’ve seen her in.
Nora’s socks were really bugging me. At least I won’t have to see them any more.
So now the Scavos will have five kids? Whoa.
I was pretty nervous for Lynnette. Thank goodness she’ll recover.

I think this was the best episode ever. I laughed, I cried…

I wish they hadn’t killed off Laurie Metcalf’s character yet - she was great. But I’m so glad Nora is gone.

Didn’t MythBusters bust that? Especially the way that particular door looked.

I loved that Bree had snacks. And that everyone knew that Bree would have snacks.

Great episode. Made me remember why I started watching it.

Sorry to see Nora die. I loved to hate her.

I normally don’t watch DH, but the BF was watching a wrestling pay per view in the living room and made me tape last nights episode for him. I must admit this one was rather good. The bits I’ve caught other weeks have never really grabbed my attention but I was rather captivated by the drama this time around.

Does not compute.

Which part? He was watching the PPV on one TV and I taped the episode for him on another.

Maybe that his interests are so eclectic?
I missed the introduction of the can-chucker’s character. And where have I seen him before?? I feel like he was on one of my soaps.

The actor is Matt Roth.

Oh, Fisher who hits Jackie on Roseanne. And also apparently Laurie Metcalf’s hubby. And he had to chuck a can at “her”!

Ahh, hadn’t even thought of it that way. I gave up on trying to figure out why he likes what he does several years ago. He loves wrestling, desperate housewives, court TV and the science channel, especially if its about space. If he’s in control of the remote you can bet it will one of those.

And Brian Kerwin, who played the cheating hubby, was another of Jackie’s failed romances on Roseanne.

Beats me. But in any other show, and in real life, my money is on crazy woman with a gun shooting the lock.

she had 2 bullets left when he locked in. she wanted to use them on him and edie.

ended up using them on nora and lynnette.

i was left wondering if the bullet just went though the soft part of lynnette’s arm or glanced off and broke her upper arm.

i also thought poor tom, he has to get kayla and tell her what happened to mommy.
