Bree and Orson are back!
And there’s wedding stuff.
bump for Bree
My DVR quit recording a few minutes early even though it’s set at +2 minutes (grrr).
Did Edie hang herself?? Aw, that’s so sad!
Oh, Gabi, you’re gonna be even more desperate now.
I’m glad Susan and Mike settled down without some big to-do.
Edie! Nooooooooooo!
There is an opening at the local real estate office & it comes with the first listing!
OK, I admit I was completely caught when Bree unstrapped her belly. When I thought she was pregnant, I was thinking everything from “raped” to “fetal transplant from the dying body of Danielle” (I saw it on a soap like 20 years ago so it must be real). Was not expecting the old “fake pregnant belly to raise your grandchild as your own” trick.
Susan and Mike. Yawn. Hope they are in the background for all of next season.
The groundwork is laid for a Gabi-Carlos reconciliation in season 4. I’m envisioning a big blowout in the S4 finale in which Mayor McSleaze loses Gabi but wins the governor’s race and is OK with that.
Interesting dynamic with Lynette and her mother. The mother seems to care but can’t give up the scheming bad behaviour that helped set the wedge in the first place.
I don’t buy Edie’s suicide for a second. I don’t buy it from a plot perspective or from a character perspective. Totally false.
There’s always the chance Edie will be found and rescued in time.
What rang false to me was Edie and Susan having coffee together. I mean Edie burned Susan’s house down (at least when Susan did it to Edie it was an accident). Someone that sociopathic would get a wide berth from me.
I was also going to say that Nicolette Sheridan is way too old to be playing a character who’s supposed to be 40, but according to Wikipedia she’s only 43. She looks a tad rough, no? Not bad, per se, but like an older woman trying to look young. Also, she’s British? Wow, I never knew that.
Holy cow! Now that was a finale chock full of action. I haven’t heard that Ms. Sheridan is saying “tally ho” (British? I did not know that) to the show so I assume she’ll have to be found before it’s too late next season? Anyone want to hazard a guess as to who fill find her?
I also did not see the twist with Bree coming. Well done. She’s been gone so long, I couldn’t remember exactly what was going on just before she left; so psycho George is supposedly “the father”?
Though I love it when Felicity Huffman gets to show off her considerable acting chops, I’m not looking forward to a storyline about her illness. It’s just a little too dark (and cliche, IMO), with no room for any comic relief. I think the story with her mother is dramatic enough and I would rather see that fleshed out than have to go through the whole Terms of Endearment routine.
Why in the heck didn’t Gaby lay the smack down when she heard her new husband and B.J. Honeycutt talking abou her? I look forward to whatever revenge she’s going to exact by way of sabotaging his campaign.
Mike and Susan; whatever. I’m just glad that they finally got the wedding over with and that Susan finally did something selfless, 'cause I really went past the point of despising her when she kept going on an on about how the wedding had to be perfect, even as Mike was getting up at three in the morning to make enough money for her spoiled ass. And I also hate hate hate Julie’s hair.
What happens when one of the women wants to touch Bree’s belly to feel the baby kick and all that? Won’t they know the difference between an actual belly and the fake one?
I don’t know what to make of Edie’s suicide. The background thump was loud enough and the feet high enough off the floor to indicate a broken neck, not just strangulation. Any sort of rescue that isn’t blatant DEM will be hard to write. But they’re pretty good writers, so hell if I know.
No, George has been dead for close to two years in show time and at the beginning of this season Bree and Orson had been married for six months. Bree’s skeevy nephew knocked up Danielle (or so we’re led to believe, since she was sleeping with her black teacher just prior to that and wouldn’t that be fun for Bree to try to explain away as her own except they already did the wrong-race baby story so never mind) and Bree and Orson decided to ship her off to a home for unwed mothers (who knew such things still existed). I had thought they were going to put the baby up for adoption but that plan’s obviously changed.
Isn’t Bree sort of frosty? Could be she’ll back away from anybody trying to touch her.
The thump was the sound of the chair being kicked over. Don’t know why you’d think feet would be any height in particular if a neck was broken. And of course she’ll be found and rescued - clearly you never watched any soaps when you were a teen.
Haha, I had the same exact thought about the fetal transplant. Especially when Bree was sending the email from Danielle.
Me neither. I feel like the characters are not consistent in this show. I can’t think of a good example at the moment, though.
Austin is Edie’s nephew. If he were Bree’s nephew he would be Danielle’s cousin.
I think Lynette and Tom are the most consistent characters, also the most realistic in terms of story (for the most part) and the most interesting. The rest do what the plot requires (Susan and Edie hate each other! Wait, now they’re drinking buddies!) regardless of what their characterization has been previously. Tom and Lynette actually tend to respond in similar ways when facing situations similar to those they’ve faced before.
Well, I guess Gabi’s been fairly consistent as a shallow cow for most of the series too.
Oops. I meant Edie. Although if he were Bree’s that would make things a bit racier, wouldn’t it.
Does anyone do that anymore? Ship the wayward daughter off to a convent and raise the child as their own? I can see conservative Bree not wanting an abortion but I would have thought she’d put the child up for adoption.
I’m thinking Gaby didn’t want to confront Victor and BJ because it was her wedding day, she was overwhelmed, and jumped on the first thing she saw (Carlos.) Are we to assume they did the nasty or just some heavy makeout time?
I thought the Susan/Mike wedding was sweet. Exactly right, and showed Susan maturing a bit from the fairy-tale princess wedding (complete with dove wrangler  ) to the more mature, “marriage ceremony.”
Poor Edie. I’m thinking Carlos finds her. I’m a bit :dubious: about the whole thing…this is the carefree divorcee who’d change men as easily as she changed underwear? Or did she start feeling her age, make herself vulnerable to Carlos, and now can’t handle the rejection? Although she did a really crappy thing, so I’m glad she got the boot. Honestly, Edie.
I missed a bit with Lynette and Tom…was he chastising her for not dealing with her cancer better?
If Edie is indeed dead, I hope we get some snarky Edie voice-overs next season.
Well, Bree. It makes perfect sense for the house that pretends to be perfect. I feel proud, I saw that as soon as we saw Bree “pregnant.” It was obvious that she was going to “have a baby” and then raise Danielle’s, especially when Orson said “raise it as if it were my own.” The two of them belong together.
Edie’s death, though? Didn’t make sense at all.
Ooh, that would be fun!
I liked at the wedding when everyone says “what’s new” and Lynette can’t say “I have cancer” - that felt like something that would really happen.
Also liked that Lynette’s Mom brought up the horrible thing Lynetter said - that her mother deserved her cancer cause she was such a bad Mom/person.
Although I like the Lynette story is handled so far, it just doesn’t fit in tone with the rest of the show. too dark.
Oh - and why did none of Gaby’s friends mention that she barely knows this man she’s marrying?
Ah, soap opera…
