Dexter 11/25/07 - open spoilers

It might not mean what you think.

Dexter could just force Doakes to handle the weapons, at gunpoint, in order to get his fingerprints on them.

And now I’ve watched the previews on Showtime’s site.

Dex tosses the tools into the bay from a pier, saying (overdubbing) that Doakes’s prints are on them, and that Doakes may die but not by his (Dexter’s) hand. Harry’s code and all that.

I don’t see how Dexter could leave Doakes alone in the shack. A dinky little cage wouldn’t hold someone of Doakes’ size for more than ten minutes.

Dexter did comment that the place was “built like a tank” so I don’t think he’s too worried. Besides, I don’t think it’ll be long term.

I just thought of something. Why does Jiminez have a cage in the cabin?

To provide Dexter with options.

You all overlooked the real highpoint of the epidode - Carradine Hinder!!! and bits…

I didn’t want to be the first to mention it. In fact, I barely noticed. Hardly, even.

He’s right. He’s hot. Still.

You know, I have to wonder if they are going to wrap this season up in it’s entireity. We could always have a cliff hanger over to the next season.

I’m not sure Lila is going to be an easy fix but she does make for a great plot twist…You really have to feel for poor Angel cuz you know he’s gonna get it again.

The problem with leaving Doakes alive is the gunshot wound. No matter how well Dexter sets him up, Doakes can just tell them what really happened and the wound backs up his story. Whatever Dexter comes up with to explain it, the fact that he snuck away from protective custody to get shot has to look suspicious.

If Doakes isn’t around, then no one would know to look for the wound in the first place.

Forgot about that, if he does leave Doakes alive to take the fall, can he say he was kidnapped? Ooooh, what if he makes a frantic panicked call to the police and gives his whereabouts as well as his version of what has happened so far and then injects himself with the sedative. Yeah, it’s risky, but it’ll look pretty bad for Doakes.

I assumed it was to keep the drugs locked up as needed.

Maybe one of you can enlighten me.

What is being analyzed in Haiti? Doakes gave his buddy a box which looked a lot like the box of slides he lifted from Dexters place. But the crime lab has a box of slides which they took from the trunk of his car at the airport.

Can’t quite follow what was in the box that went to Haiti. Any thoughts?

My understanding is that nothing went to Haiti- Doakes went to get a lab set up before he brought in the slides. Maybe he thought he might get stopped with them and didn’t want to take the chance they were found on his person until he had the lab set up?

The box wasn’t with Doakes in Haiti - not yet anyway - he went there first to make sure that he could get them analyzed - then he intended to go get them and return with them. He (apparently) went thru a ‘normal’ airline to get there the first time (which is what set off Lundy’s radar) - and he couldn’t risk them going thru customs.

Three little words that will nail Dexter - probably not to be realized until the final scene of this season -

“I’m sorry, Deb”

  • as he ‘thought’ he was being taken into questioning AS the BHB.

Those words will come back to haunt him.

And I do hope that the Lundy arc all but closes with this season -

What’s the consensus? I realize that the ‘series’ will end if/when he’s really caught, but how long can he go on ‘not caught’ ?

I don’t see the Dexter’s wound as a problem. He can say he tried to get away from Doakes and Doakes shot him.

The cage is for the cocaine? Hmm. Easier than hauling a safe to the cabin, I suppose. But it leaves the dope in plain sight.

Can’t the “I’m sorry, Deb” be Dexter commiserating with her about a breakup with Lundy?

Though the books and the series aren’t really connected,in the book Doakes has his hands, feet and tongue removed by someone

Could be, but look at the entire context of the scene - Deb is calling BS and ‘going to find out what’s going on’ as the Lundy’s goons take Dex into ‘custody’ - Dex has absolutely no reason to apologize for anything at this point (assuming he hasn’t done anything) - but his mind is racing becuase he thinks he is ‘caught’ and ends up verbalizing an apology to Deb - the one person he had within earshot that he was worried about hurting.

(He should’ve been more ‘whats this all about’ instead of ‘ok, ya got me’).

Sometimes, people just say “I’m sorry” in the sense of “I’m sorry this has upset you so much.”

The cabin itself is apparently heavily reinforced against break-in per a couple of lines of dialogue.
