After 5pm is fine, it’s after 5 am that’s the problem. Those old people go to bed early but they’re lining up for the Grand Slam as soon as the ravers clear out of Denny’s.
Hold the phone. Dexter has been getting sloppier all the time, but sending his next victim (Travis) VIDEO OF HIMSELF? And video that pretty explicitly announces that he’s looking to take Travis out?
Nonononononononononononononono…lazysloppyterrible. Bad.
I had this same thought when that scene played. I had to pause the DVR to make a similar comment to my husband, in fact. Gotta be weird. Props to the actors, though: it didn’t LOOK awkward.
They were married? Huh, didn’t know that.
They met, married, and divorced during the run of the series.
Right around the time of the divorce the Dexter facebook page said ‘“I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister. I will not kill my sister.” -Dexter’
It was a quote from, what, Season 1 I think, but the timing was kinda funny.
Not to mention, if he has his phone number why not just trace the phone?
If who had who’s phone number why not trace which phone?
Dexter and Travis have had each other’s numbers since Dexter put Travis up in the hotel to keep him safe from phantom Gellar.
Or do you mean why not just trace Travis’ phone. I’m not sure, it’s possible Dexter doesn’t have access to that, maybe? Also, in theory, anything that’s done on those computers is stored an audited from time to time and Dexter really shouldn’t be triangulating cell phones. Besides, that would just get him the general area and he already knows the general area. I think the cops are fairly certain he was within their radius. Of course, now that I think about it, i guess they stopped looking after a while since he managed to get down to the docks.
The only way I’m seeing this as being a bad idea is if the cops get Travis first and find the phone. In that case, yes, it’s a REALLY bad idea. But Dexter is pretty confident he’ll get Travis’ attention and then he can destroy the evidence.
Is that what you’re referring to?
Also, what was Dexter talking about with the other boat? Did he find another boat called Slice of Life or paint “Slice of Life” on a different boat? I was confused by that scene. I also that it was odd that Travis wrote that on his hand. I have to assume it was just for dramatic effect.
Dexter used his video with his boat in the background as bait - why he thought Travis would think “hey, thats HIS boat” is another question all together. He was setting up in a ‘rarely’ used boat that was in the next slip.
Of course, if he could get Travis into his boat - why bother with the setup in the other boat at all, and shouldn’t his ritual be carried out somewhere it means something to Travis? (like back @ the church).
Phone records would be enough to damn Dexter at this point, I’m still waiting for a review of the 911 call - ‘hey, that sounds alot like dexter and isnt that his number?’
What this episode really shows is that Dexter should never let one of his captures live - even if he screwed up his code - leaving witnesses is never a good idea.
Did Dexter ever mention to Travis (even when they were ‘friends’) that he had a boat? Because then it might make sense.
They’ve done this a few times this season. Dexter catches the name of a boat (the sexretary was one and I think there was another and I’m pretty sure there was times in other season) and then goes and finds it. But that makes sense for Dexter. He’s a boat person. Boats interest him, he’s drawn to them. He knows his way around the various docks/marinas/launches in Florida. So I suppose he might just naturally assume, mistakenly, that other people might see the name of a boat and just automatically put 2 and 2 together. Thing is, even if you gave me the name of a boat, I wouldn’t know where to look on the internet to find it. I’m sure there’s some public database to find that (and we’ve seen Dexter do that), but how did Travis do it.
What I’m wondering is this…Dexter tracking someone down like that make sense. Dexter thinking someone else can track him down also makes sense. Someone else actually doing it is a bit fuzzy. I wonder if the writer (or director or producer etc) is a boat person and that is skewing their thinking a bit. OTOH, if Miami has a big enough boating culture maybe that’s just the way people think. I dunno.
Another thing…
Travis goes back to the church to finish his painting. Why is there not any police presence there? He was known to have been using the church recently, fer cryin’ out loud, plus there’s tons of evidence there that they wouldn’t want anyone tampering with. Between Miami PD and Homeland Security SOMEONE should have been there.
I think (just a guess, not based on anything I’ve heard and I have not read any of the books) they are setting Laguerta up to be killed off in the season finale. They’ve turned her from a mostly unlikable opportunist who, however, would ultimately do the right thing into an evil backstabbing immoral selfish sociopathic slut - literally (she slept with that other officer’s husband/bf (forget if they were married) to screw with her and get her job back) a few seasons back. The show only has room for one sociopath - Dexter.
I don’t think anyone wants to see a whole season of Laguerta screwing with/over Deb and as such, I predict Laguerta will be killed off next week. I could be wrong - it just seems like they’ve worked hard all season to make us cheer when some killer rips her nasty head off. What I don’t understand is why Deb didn’t defend herself to Matthews more than saying “nuh uh wasn’t me, but your dead wife would be ashamed of you.” Why doesn’t Deb run back and tell him it was Laguerta? Hell by now he should know it was Laguerta… the only reason he had any reason to suspect Deb was because he had dinner w/ her the night before where they discussed the matter. But still, the second she denied it (as feeble and dispassionate as said denial may have been), Matthews should have immediately screamed “Laguerta!” … but Deb should go tell him that Laguerta just admitted to her that it was she who leaked his indiscretion - not Deb. Deb said she wouldn’t rat him out and had no reason to and every reason not to. Laguerta, on the other hand… Hopefully in the finale Deb will do the obvious thing and go tell Matthews what Laguerta did, both to save herself from Laguerta’s wrath and clear her name with Matthews.
I was under the impression that he was at the museum…but I’m not sure that makes any sense.
Watching that scene again, I’m not sure where he is. It’s not the museum, but I’m not sure it’s the church either.
He’s painting a mural (on a wall as opposed to a canvas), but if it’s in the church it’s in a room we haven’t seen before. If it’s the church it’s in the loft since it’s up against a roof and the main part of the church was open/atrium style.
Could it just be wherever he was living before this all started?
The painting with Dexter’s face on it was done in the home/apartment Travis is shacked up in where he killed the couple that was lying in their pool of blood and the cat came by to drink/eat. He started using charcoal or pencil on the wall before the cut to the cat and dead bodies. How dexter finds this home/apartment is gonna be quite the stretch.
Out of curiosity:
I missed last week’s episode, and for some reason it is the only episode not available On Demand through my cable. Has anybody else had this omission from their On Demand service?
I don’t think Dexter finds the house before the PD does in this case.
That would make sense. Maybe the PD finds the painting of Dexter and the cell phone with Dexter’s video on it (and Dexter in the ocean by the Lake of Fire) and realizes that Dexter is wrapped up in the case.
Maybe this is how Dexter is finally outed.
Agreed. And I don’t buy it. I thought the incest taboo kicks in from being raised together as siblings, regardless of blood relation.
Of course, incest sometimes happens anyway, even with blood siblings that were raised together. Could be Deb is just a deviant.
There’s an easy out for that…Dexter thwarted DDK’s plans for Wormwood, so it’s natural nutso Travis would target him as the Anti-Christ in his Revealation tableau. I doubt the cops will find Travis’ cellphone.
