Dexter: He Gets Religion - New Season Starts Sunday!

The Tooth Fairy is the main villain in one of the Hannibal Lecter stories. It looked to be a different MO, but I have to wonder whether it was an homage of some sort, or coincidence to make up a serial killer with the same name.

I’m enjoying this season so far. Colin Hanks is actually pretty creepy because he looks like such a milquetoast. I hope Edward James Olmos gets more time as the season progresses. He always has strong screen presence.

Loved Deb’s first meeting with the new detective! It was nice how she put him in his place, but got him on her side at the same time.

I just realized that Musaka’s hot assistant is Brea Grant. I had a major crush on her when she was on Heroes. She is such a babe! I wonder if her fascination with the Ice Truck Killer is just a weird interest, or if there is something more to it.

I’m thinking the Olmos character is a hallucination. He never interacts with anybody but Hanks Jr. and he seems to magically appear whenever Jr needs some evil pep-talk.

Maybe a “dark passenger”, akin to Dexter’s father hallucinations.

I hadn’t noticed that, but it makes a lot of sense.

I just realized that was Mos Def as the ex-con preacher (well, if reading the IMDb can be called realizing). He is another fine actor, always unrecognizable but also unforgettable. And always willing to let his character step back from the limelight.

I agree, he is very good. I can’t remember off the top of my head what the name of the movie is now, but it was with Alan Rickman. That was my first exposure to Mos as an actor and I remember noting then that he was going to be one to watch.

I find myself thinking this in every role I figure out is him. He’s very chameleon-like as well, hard to place but easy to remember.

That would be Something the Lord Made, a very fine movie about pioneering heart surgeons Vivian Thomas and Alfred Blalock.

Thank you, yes. A very good movie indeed.

Yep. I realized that it was Mos Def and that Vince’s creepy new assistant was on Heroes in their first appearances. Glad to see them both on the show.

I’ve been watching the old seasons. It’s amazing how many times Dexter’s car gets dinged, broken, and demolished.

Maybe I’m turning into a wimp but for the first time since the new season started I didn’t watch last night’s episode. After the final scene last week I just couldn’t deal with the gore. I decided I didn’t want those horrific images in my head.

But I may change my mind because I really want to know what’s happening. Damn.

Last night’s episode was very gory, so if that bothers you you might want to skip it.

So the show is set in Miami and now we have Edward James-Olmos on the show. Last night the new detective guy referred to Batista and Quinn as “Crockett and Tubbs”. Writers, you can lay off the “Miami Vice” references from now on. Thank you.

So…there was a blood trail leading from the crime scene into the greenhouse (which had a blood-stained handle) where a woman was tied up and suspended from the ceiling, and *no one * noticed this until Dexter showed up? That is some seriously sloppy detective work right there. Batista and Quinn may have still been slightly stoned, but what’s everyone else’s excuse?

I’m still trying to figure out how you get that many cicadas in a cabinet -

Plus, they left a living witness. Had anyone noticed the tripwires, which were not exactly hair thin, they could have saved her life and had a witness who could give a name and address.

And in any case, Dexter has already figured out Colin Hanks involvement. How many episodes are left?

You talking about the horses at the end as the preview for the next episode? I liked the little kid with the drink in his hand and the dropped jaw/opened mouth. I thought that was some perfect dark humor and yeah I’d be all  and frozen in place if I saw that too.

Woah, that is very interesting. Now I want to re-watch everything thus far.

Edit: Oh, duh, we know that isn’t right, Olmos is an ex-prof, he has a website and stuff. Still a cool theory though.
