Dexter Season 4 open spoilers for aired episodes [changed title]

Thanks! Sadly, I didn’t write my other speculation and now it’s out of the bag too. I’ve been thinking for about 3 weeks that there’s a fourth kill that Lundy didn’t know about. Dexter was too relaxed about Trinity’s cycle being over for it not to bite him in the ass. The coffin sort of confirmed it for me. Christie being Trinity’s daughter totally caught me by surprise though.

Thanksgiving dinner at the Mitchell’s was a real mess. Dexter definitely overplayed things. The wife and daughter saving Trinity from Dex is a sad, but entertaining twist. I loved Lithgow’s look of fear. He slips from menacing psycho to normal-guy reactions so well!

Christie knowing Dexter is also problematic. It will be interesting to see Christie’s level of knowledge regarding her dad. I’m beginning to think that Dexter isn’t going to get the kill on Trinity. It might be Deb this time or he might escape. Escape could be very interesting.

I think Dex is past having to manufacture outrage about Rita. I think he’s capable of real jealousy over her.

On a side note, was that Mustang supposed to be a Shelby GT 500? If so, that’s about a $100K car if I’m not mistaken.

Man, I was going to post 3 weeks ago about Christie. I noticed something with the camera angles and/or music that made me think the writers wanted us to take note of her. Just this feeling I got about her character. Was going to ask in this thread if I was missing something, or if you guys noticed it too.

Hats off to ya, RogueRacer

Man, how old is Rita and how long was she married previously? Has she never cooked a Thanksgiving dinner before? She’s almost unbelievably inept anymore. I hope she bangs the neighbor and runs off with him. Meh.

That last scene was a double-wow for me. First “wow, Trinity’s going to kill her!” and then “wow Trinity is her DAD!” Hot damn!

Rita was married for at least a few years to Paul who is the father of her kids. Dexter killed him. And she was married before Paul too but she did not tell Dexter about that guy, he found out , I think from her mother.

Thank you! I was sitting there trying to figure out where I’d seen her before.

I rewatched last night just so I could answer your question, and I was so engrossed that if Deb did say something, I totally missed it.

Guess I’ll have to watch again! I never rewatch Dexter, but I think I’ll start. I even liked the Angel-Maria scenes a second time.

Nitpick: Dexter didn’t kill Paul, he made it look like he overdosed and called the police. It was his third strike, which landed him in prison again… where he got killed when a fight broke out.

As an aside, the actor who played Paul is now playing Lucifer in Supernatural.

Right, I forgot that Paul died in prison. I remembered the OD part and thought he died then.

That’s where I’ve seen that actor! It’s been bugging me for weeks but I was too lazy to go to IMDB and check.

Elliot needs a smack upside the head. I’m sensing some latent aggression in the guy, the way he lifted Rita up on the counter, and his comment about Dexter never being home. I don’t think he’ll take a hint.

They assume that based on the fact that Lundy was in Miami hunting him, Plus the ‘first’ bathtub girl was in miami 30 years ago.

Nitpick - It’s Christine, not Christie.

Great episode. I thought it was just going to be a filler episode until shit went down at the Mitchell house. The end was awesome too. When Quinn left and she got the knock on her door, I was thinking nice twist, but too bad it was spoiled in the preview. Then we get an even better one. Can’t wait for the next episode.

It wasn’t spoiled in the preview though. We saw her open the door to Arthur but we didn’t hear the “Oh, hi dad.” (At least that’s how it was in the preview I saw.)

That’s what he said. The “even better twist” was that Trinity was her dad.

Okay. Guess I need to read for comprehension.

I think she did it for another reason, because I called her as the shooter when they replayed the “about Vince’s height” and “needs a lead that bleeds” lines in the “previously on” part. I figured that she shot them to have something to write about, because as she said last week, it’s hard to stay employed as a reporter in this economy. If you can’t find a lead that bleeds, create one - literally!

Wow that was pretty intense. Dexter really screwed himself over- it will be very difficult to kill Trinity now without raising suspicion on himself. I guessed that Lundy’s killer was either Christine or Trinity’s son, but was surprised that she was his daughter. Good that there’s only three eps left, I can’t see the storyline being stretched more than that.

If you’re right, I don’t know how I’ll feel about it – she’d have to be nuts.

But it makes more sense than Christine being in cahoots with her dad, because she wouldn’t put him on the front page if she was. Would she?

So many questions! Who is Christine’s mother? Does she know about Arthur’s family? Do they know about her? Sunday can’t come soon enough.

ETA: Is the story still following the books? Anyone know? I think there were only three books.

The TV series is totally not going by the book series. After the first book, Deb finds out Dexter’s secret life.

Can’t wait for this season to wrap up. Loved the intense trinity thanksgiving. Lithgow brings on the creepy to extreme levels.

I’m not following …

  1. Do we know for sure that T made the coffin for himself ?

  2. Does he kill in sets of four and what do we know about why and how?

I’m not following either, about him killing in fours. The fourth family member is alive, so there’s no fourth death to replicate.

The coffin – well, it does look like he’s made them before, but I believed him when he said it was for himself. Except that if he’d succeeded in killing himself, his family would have buried him without ever knowing about the coffin. Unless he left a note.

Yeah, I’m lost too.

Actually, if I recall Correctly, the only Trinity headline was an article about Lundy’s hunt. Everything she seemed to be writing about was on the Vacation Murders. She was probing into the Trinity case when she could but I don’t know how much she actually put out.
I suspect that one article was a warning to Daddy. The shooting was to protect him.

From her lack of fear of Daddy (mind you it was hard to tell in the brief gottcha scene), I’m assuming she either knows of his secret life and he isn’t aware of that, or they both work together. I’m gonna go with the former because he received no warning about the DNA sweep. If the two were in cahoots she’d call him to warn him about the roadblocks.

My guess as to Dexter finding out about the kiss is that when he finds out (and I’m sure he will in 2 episodes… they stretch these things out) his reaction won’t be anger, which will make Rita more upset with him or suspect something is wrong.
