Dexter Season 4 open spoilers for aired episodes [changed title]

I think the D. Morgan was Dexter’s listing and although Arthur found it, it could have been old and archived somewhere and luckily for him (but not Rita), it was the sister of his target. I think it would have been very easy for him to find Dexter from there. He was already in Deb’s apartment, so it’s possible she’d have an address book or “in case of emergency” list. It’s very conceivable to find Dexter’s new address at Deb’s place/Dexter’s old place.

Posters have been questioning what kind of alibi Dexter’s going to have for his wife’s murder.

What if he doesn’t need one?

The only people who know what happened to Rita is Dexter and Arthur (I’m assuming Harrison is too young to have any kind of comprehensiion of her death). Thinking about it coldly, rationally, Dexter might come to the conclusion that having a missing wife, while problematic, is much better than having a dead wife in a bathtub when you have no alibi.

Dexter is pretty adept at getting rid of bodies and cleaning up crime scenes.

He’s pretty adept at getting rid of bodies, but the only reason his crime scenes are clean is because he takes care to not spill blood on anything but plastic sheeting. Besides, I think Dexter actually cared for Rita, and I can’t see him chopping her up the way he would one of his victims.

It would be really hard to stage her as missing, since she took a cab home. Him coming home and finding Harrison all by himself is only slightly less suspicious than him finding her in the bathtub.

Yeah, I can’t see him chopping her up, or disposing of her in any way.

As mentioned upthread, maybe the writers can use Arthur’s appearance at Miami Metro as a starting point. It helps when the character is batshit crazy – they don’t have to make Arthur do something rational. Maybe he went there looking for Deb, because of Christine. Instead he found Deb’s brother, who has a family. Would that work?

You could be right, of course – but the point was made earlier that Dexter isn’t like us – he’s a serial killer – he’s not sane. Caring for someone and being able to cut them up into pieces may not be mutually exclusive for him.

Also, he doesn’t need to establish a timeline for her to be missing. No one is looking for her. The kids are away for the weekend. He could say she was there when he came home, they had a big fight (it has been established they’ve been having marital difficulties – there was a witness to her kiss with the neighbor) and then she just up and left Dexter with Harrison.

Heck, maybe he could turn suspicions over on to the neighbor. “She left with him – she said she’d be back on Sunday to meet the kids.”

Playing up the marital problems would cast more suspicion on Dexter.

Saying she left with the neighbor would not work. Presumably Astor and Cody’s grandparents knew Dexter and Rita were going away on a honeymoon. It’s also not unlikely Rita told other people about her plans with Dexter. If Dexter starts presenting a contradictory story it will look bad.

All good points. I’m not saying it’s an ideal scenario – I’m just wondering if it would be better than “Trinity killed my wife while I was out doing…uh…”

Ya know - he is completely innocent of this crime - he really shouldnt be afraid to call the police… oh, wait

I like this. Dexter’s best bet is to just call the police and report the murder. Okay so he doesn’t have an alibi. While they have had some marital problems, Dexter has no history of violence against Rita or any domestic disputes.

Though he was just arrested after being violent in front of 2 cops.

My pants are not stupid!

(must not look at other posts; must not look at other posts; must not look at other posts…)

Not that violent though. Dexter didn’t get physical until the twerp pulled out his phone for video. Something like that might even have gotten him some sympathy from the other cops, if not for Dex trying the “professional courtesy” bit on them.

Quinn – he’s under suspicion himself.

And that was one of the worst car chases I’ve ever seen. I could swear they showed the same sections of street more than once. And it was hard to believe Rita didn’t hear the horns and the tires screeching over the phone. Is Dexter’s car soundproof?

Next season they should keep Rita in the cast. He already talks to Harry all the time, why not have him talk to Rita, too?

I was shocked at the ending! Quite good!

I am also curious about what they will do next season. Not worried about the head writer (someone said she wrote Twilight) as she was writing what someone else did.

Does anyone read the books? Lots of good stuff there as well but different. If you want more Dexter until it’s on again.

I thought she would commit suicide. Never expected Trinity to get her.

He can just tell Deb he was driving around trying to wrap his head around the bombshell she dropped on him…

I kept thinking the coffin meant Trinity was planning to murder his own family as a cycle. First his son, then his daughter in a bathtub, then his wife as a jumper and finally himself. The finale shows how wrong I was.

I think Dexter will report the murder. The phone message that Rita left for Dexter will help allay suspicions. If anyone does openly raise suspicions, it’s a good bet Debra will curse them out on the spot, like the last time anyone accused her brother. Jennifer Carpenter is too good at that to waste her talents.

I think Cody and Astor will still be around because Dexter legally adopted them when he married Rita. He will have his hands full raising three kids, though.

I don’t think Dexter will try to complete the Trinity cycle… too foreign to his methods and his code. Mixing up his kill methods is a good way to get yourself caught. Besides, the FBI will assume Trinity left mid-cycle because of the closed bank accounts.

pretty sure in the timeline i presented above that Dexter was at the Mitchell residence when all the killing of Rita by Trinity was being done. So Dexter does have an alibi. Masuka can probably determine the bleeding out took pretty long and Rita’s liver temperature is about 12+ hrs of death, including warm water that filled the bathtub to lessen the loss of temperature from the environment. So that will rule Dexter out of the picture since he was doing the recon/stealth lab tech thing at the Mitchell home. We do have to remember Arthur had to wash up if he got in the tub with Rita and that time he took to wash up, Dexter had the whole get to the autobody shop and get things in order there for Trinity’s demise.

I hope Dexter goes “free” with Rita’s murder, so he can go back to his old killing self. But they can go crazy with this event. They can have a whole angle on Dexter killed Rita, they can go he had an alibi which i prefer and he goes nutso on his future well-planned not-rushed victims, pouring his heartache to the poor souls that are gonna get murdered. They can also set up Deb getting suspicious of Dex and his magnetism of serial killers. It was a total reboot and game changer.

Quinn already hates him too.

How is he going to find time to kill people now that he has to take care of three kids?

They don’t even need to connect her death to Trinity. It could end up being believed to be a suicide.

If they do connect her death to Trinity it can be sold as Trinity chose a victim close to Lundey’s GF and make Deb believe she returned the ‘favor’ of Dexter indirectly bringing John Mohser into her life.

Issue Dexter has to deal with:

Pretending to be a human after the death of his wife.
Not getting connected to the Trinity killer in the way he actual was.
Raising at least one child(I could see the grandparents taking the older two in)
Batista witnessing him talking to Trinity and asking about what was said.
Quinn prying into his life.
Dexter only manages to stay hidden because no one person has all the pieces(and they apparently never talk to each other either, Like wtf did Masuka not find it odd Dexter had work on thanksgiving and just kinda accepted the excuse)

Deb has all the pieces but is to blinded by him being family to let her instincts go to work.
