I think a few people thought maybe Rita was not really dead but she is. Also Dexter will stay single for a while
I’m not surprised. I don’t think she won’t appear as a ghost/vision, but I’m not surprised at all that she’s dead.
It certainly solves the problem of following the pattern of the books, although admittedly, the show has worked fast and loose with that aspect anyway.
I was thinking she was going the way of the father, as a self reflection perhaps, not as a ghost really because it’s all in his head!
Hmmm… I’ll be disappointed if Rita comes back to give him any advice.
Dad does, why not Rita - although she might be the “good angel” on his shoulder, but I think dad will remain the predominate “bad angel” on the other shoulder.
The “bad angel” is The Dark Passenger; Harry just gave Dexter the structure and discipline to keep “him” in check.
That’s because in the later books the Dark Passenger became an actual entity. I thought Jeff Lindsey went a little off the rails on that one.
I do wish the show had made Rita’s kids sociopaths too. That would have been awesome.
It might not have matched the previous books, but it was an interesting diversion.
Getting a babysitter they wouldn’t kill would be an episode in itself.
