Just thought I’d share that the Plano Repertory Theatre is doing a live performance of Schoolhouse Rock. Anyone in the DFW area interested in going? I’ve sent an email to all the DFW Dopers I know, but this is open to anyone else in the area.
Schoolhouse Rock, Live!
November 16 - December 9, 2001
“Conjunction Junction.” “I’m Just a Bill.” “Lolly, Lolly, Lolly, Get Your Adverbs Here.” No one who watched Saturday morning television in the 70s can forget “Schoolhouse Rock.” Combining zany animation, witty lyrics, and wacky characters, these cartoons made learning fun for a neration of children. Science, history, grammar, math, and politics come back to life as 21 memorable hits from the original series are brought together in a musical that promises
fun for the entire family.
Thursday evenings (7:30) look to be the cheapest if we’re on a budget. You can see the other times and prices at Plano Repertory Theatre.
So far Mtgman, Zyada, ExTank, ChefTroy, and Aglarond (maybe) have expressed interest in going. The only date thrown out thus far is Thursday, November 29th. Also, since I’m in Plano, I can be responsible for getting the tickets and we can square up on the cost of them later.
Well like I said before, I don’t mind getting the tickets for everyone. I just need to know who is planning on coming.
Also, I have several coupons for Six Flags if anyone wants them. They’re for admission to Six Flags on December 1st or 2nd. The price of admission is $10 with the coupon.
Things have been really hectic here this week, nothing like Troy’s week, but just enough to keep us too preoccupied to say that yes, the 29th works for us.
As far as tickets go, do you think they’ll be sold out? Or would it be something you’re offering to do just for our convenience? They may have a will-call system, no mention of it on their website, I’ll call the box office. If they have a will-call then we can get tickets without having to stand in line, but line-standing isn’t something the kids enjoy.
Many years ago I was a regular at Six Flags, I learned two things. First, never, ever, EVER, EVER, go to Six Flags on the weekend, especially on weekends when they’re starting events like Holiday in the Park and already have reduced hours. Second, having season tickets for multiple years straight makes the park a very dull place. Kind of a “nice place to visit, wouldn’t want to live there” kind of thing. But it’s very sweet of you to offer, hope someone can use them. Like I said, kids are not fond of line-standing, and on holiday weekends, the park is, about 85% or more of the time, line-standing.
BTW, I no longer can access my iwon account from work so if you need to reach me, use my cell phone (I hope you still have that) or post to this topic.
Yes, we know it’s tonight. My wife and I pretty much made the decision to go, but there were some other things going on and the holidays were hectic and we just didn’t get around to broadcasting the news. Sorry
Tickets turned out to be no big deal, after not being able to get through to the box office this afternoon I got through a few minutes ago and put tickets on will call for us. I checked the traffic report and we’ll be leaving shortly because I hate driving cross-city in rush hour, sure we have a hour, we’ll be on the road by 6, curtain is at 7:30 have to have the tickets picked up by 7:15. I think we’ll be ok. See you there!
