DFW Dopers - Wanna put on goofy shoes, drink beer, and laugh at each other?

Is it too late to sign up? I’ve sent Grace an email for directions.

Does someone want to warn thewiz about the type of directions I usually give? I think I’d better forward the email to Zyada or Troy for real directions. If you follow my directions, you’re likely to end up circling the airport or heading to Oklahoma.

I’d believe her. She has to have a navigator to get out of the closet.

Jim

Why do you think I always let Hootee drive to these things? Hootee gets me where I need to go and I don’t have to worry about getting lost. Although…she is the one that took us the looooong way to Bennigans the other day.

I’ve been properly warned about Grace’s sense of direction.

I was honest about my inability to give clear directions. I’m lucky to find my house every evening. It’s a good thing my car is trained to get me to and from work with only minimal attention by me.

And don’t even get me started on how I always arrive late at these things…

Okay, we need a head count so I know how much food to make.

Also, who’s bringing the beer? And remember I live in a dry area, so whoever brings it needs to buy it before you get to my neighborhood. I have a couple of Heinekens but not enough for everyone.

I’m grilling burgers, and making my mom’s secret recipe potato salad and my grandfather’s secret recipe baked beans. I can throw a chicken breast or two on the grill if someone doesn’t eat red meat but you’ll need to tell me ahead of time. Also, are there any vegetarians in the group? If so, again, tell me and I’ll throw a portobello mushroom on the grill for you.

I’m planning to be there, though I’ll probably be moving rather slowly–I have to help build a tavern at a Faire site on Saturday.

Well, y’all have fun. I won’t be able to make it this time. Someone bowl a strike for me (seeing as I’m not very good at it :))

Hootee and I will be there. I also know that thewiz is coming and possibly two younguns. Just let me know what you want me to bring other than my appetite.

BTW, what exactly is the starting time? Are we still talking about a starting time of 1:00 p.m. or have we moved it 3:00 since Mrs. Chef won’t be off work until 6?

Let’s look at three-ish for the start time, after which we will drink, hob-nob, admire the new deck furniture, drink, watch a DVD, drink, eat dinner, and stagger off to the bowling alley.

What a plan, Troy.
Jim

I’ll be there with my kids (11 yo twins). Looking forward to it.

Could somebody please email me directions to Chef Troy’s house? I tried to send out an email, but due to moving and a change in ISP, that is proving to be difficult. Thanx.

I feel that we are glossing over an important point about tomorrow’s festivities.

Namely, Who is bringing the BEER?! I have very little of it in the house. someone needs to bring the beer, or we will NOT be in the proper frame of mind for bowling.

I’ll bring beer. Geez, I thought that was a given or I’d have spoken up sooner.

Jim

I will be bringing 4 Shiner Bocks and 2 MGDs. And a bunch of Soda Pop!

[sub]I wonder where they came from?[/sub]

Okay, the potato salad’s made, the beans are in the oven, the corn on the cob is ready to be boiled (did I mention we’re having corn on the cob?), the hamburgers are ready for the grill, and now I’m going to do a little desultory housecleaning before I have to get in the shower.

I also got some hot dogs, so we’ll have those too. Oh, and some chips.

I’ll try to look at this thread again around 2:30, so if anyone has any last minute messages for me post 'em here.

ps. - can someone bring a bag of ice?

Oh, and i just realized I hadn’t e-mailed directions to adam. I emailed them just now, but if anyone knows his phone number, give him a call, ok?

I’ll pick up a couple of six packs and some ice.
