Diablo 4, cross-platform, now in beta

I really don’t know how teleport worked in D2, but in this one making it random makes teleport pointless. It is that simple. Also in D3 the oculus had zero randomness to it so they could have just as easily removed it. When you give a completely useless unique to the absolutely worst class while every other class gets useful ones it is very hard not to see it as a very special FU.

In Diablo 2, it would teleport you to your cursor position, which was usually terrible since your cursor was over an enemy.) Teleport was otherwise crazy good in Diablo 2 otherwise since you could teleport to any position that wasn’t out of bounds. But yeah, resetting the CD would be way better.

This would actually work just fine in D4.

Consoles would be screwed, though.

I don’t think this is true. Teleport will take you to your cursor position but the Oculus trigger TP was random.

You’re right. I found an old video that was clearly the original Diablo 2 and looked like a random spot.

It seems Sorcerer and Barbarian will get some dev love “soon.” How much? No one knows and, if I had to guess, it won’t amount to much. But, the devs realize those classes need some help. You can hear the summary here:

To add:

The devs seem to get they messed up with the last patch. The say they will never do only nerfs again. Any patch should be nerfs and buffs (I am paraphrasing).

You specifically should not do nerfs to armor and damage reduction while fixes to key stuff like resistances not working at all(supposed to be the main form of defense for int classes, cough… sorcs) get’s punted all the way to season 2.

I agree with that. The biggest issue, IMO is content though, not class balance. Been playing a bit of season 1 it’s just a new type of gem? And Nothing carries over to eternal? As is nobody is going to play for years like D2 or D3. I probably won’t be around for season 2 even.

You are also earning Battle Pass rewards, and those will carry over. Also, the characters you make for seasonal play will automatically move to the permanent server after the season is over, you won’t lose their progress.

Now, I’m not sure what’s going to happen to gear with Malignant Hearts slotted, since the MHs are going away. I assume those slots will turn into regular gem slots. But I haven’t figured out for sure.

Here is a list of rewards you get for Season 1:

You’ll be able to keep at least some of those rewards:

The blessings you earn from the Battle Pass will go away at the end of seasonal play, but the cosmetics you earn won’t.

The free battle pass rewards that are not season specific are just a merchant looking outfit and some plain weapon cosmetics.

Correct, but I bought the digital deluxe version which allows you to earn the other stuff in Battle Pass (though you can only apply it to one season), and I’m getting some awesome stuff.

This is where Blizzard is really looking to monetize. Instead of charging a subscription like WoW, they will introduce new content, and new rewards, but you have to pay extra to get the really nice rewards, otherwise you get crap that’s worse than stuff you’d normally get just playing the regular game.

I’m liking this first season. Will I be interested in Season 2, when I either earn lame stuff, or have to pay extra? I’m not sure. I definitely don’t want to pay $10 extra every few months.

These are nothing.

So far I’ve played a necro for my eternal character and a druid for season. The necro looks absolutely bad ass without even trying, the druid looks like an overweight sitcom dad in town and a werewolf in combat. Cosmetics are completely inconsequential.

That might be your opinion, but I’m getting stuff that I think are much better than anything I can earn in-game normally, and would normally have to spend cash on in the cosmetics shop for.

I know I’m not getting something for nothing here, because I spent extra cash for the version of the game I received. But I like the idea that I’m earning these cosmetics and not just getting them from the cosmetic store instantly straight up for cash. There are a lot of rewards, 90 in total, and a lot of them are pretty cool.

Saying you get “nothing” is like going into a pizza restaurant and saying they don’t have any food for sale because you don’t like pizza. It’s a nonsense argument.

We are about to embark upon S1. I created a new Druid. I thought about it really hard and just decided I was having a lot of fun with that class, so why not keep going?

I have been very much enjoying Druid so far.

I will continue to sulk about the state of my Sorc and take a week or two off, since it got dramatically worse, especially since I had invested a lot into armor to try to mitigate the squishiness.

So apparently the new malignant heart for necros that pops corpses with whatever corpse using skill you have equipped in your bars makes them able to easily AFK farm.
