Diablo II: Lord of Destruction

I know there’s several Diablo II players here. Y’all need to see the Offical Expansion Pack Website if you haven’t already. There’s descriptions and screenshots of the two new character classes, screenshots and animations of new monsters, and a FAQ. Yes, the title of the expansion pack is the same as this thread subject.

I decided to have a little fun. I started a new game with a barbarian and saved him. Then, I used a character/item editor and made my new barbarian level 25, proficient with clubs, and with the following items:

Steeldriver great maul
Iceblink banded mail
Tearhaunch greaves
Iratha’s Finery - full set
Nagelring
Manaldheal ring

I love being in Chap. 1 and shattering the minor monsters with just one blow!

800x600 resolution! Yes…Diablo needed that resolution badly. Too bad its not higher.

As for the “elite” items I say whatever. I have yet to get a complete set of unique items after MUCH playing (and re-playing and note that I do not play this game in multiplayer or use editors). Frankly, the complete sets are nowhere near powerful enough to merit the effort in getting them and I do just fine without them.

Looking at the screenshots it’s too bad that Blizzard can’t find a color palette beyond brown and gray.

Ahh well…it’s still Diablo and I know I will still get it.

A higher resolution? Great!
I have kinda hit burnout recently on Diablo2. Then again, I had been playing non-stop since a week after it came out. Since I don’t have kids or other family obligations, that added up to a lot of time.

I can’t wait for the expansion and the chance to play the new charcters. I’m also very interested in what changes they will make to the existing characters. Rumor is that they might ruin the Barb and 'Zon.
BTW, http://www.diabloii.net has been covering the upcoming expansion pretty well. You might want to check out their site to for some additional info and screenies.

I played DII quite extensively awhile back, but I’ve stopped in favor of Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment. The former is a great RPG, a lot of hack n slash dungeon-crawling, while the latter is more of a roleplaying game, where your decisions greatly affect the outcome more than bustin up someone’s knees. Both great games.

I do plan on buying the expansion, but first I must get Black and White, now that they’re finally here.

I haven’t been on BNet in a long time, and normally don’t bother with my editors. However, I also don’t like to have my characters killed repeatedly by an end-of-chapter monster. The only way I saw to get my necromancer past Chapter II was to use the editor to skip to the end. I’m pretty sure I’ll try a new game with the expansion installed.

Last time I was in a software store, I asked about the expansion pack. The computers at Electronics Boutique say it is due out on 2 July.

Speaking of elite items, am I missing something. Is there supposed to be a way to find a complete set or is it completely random? Thanks!

There are three ways of obtaining a complete set:

  1. Play long enough to collect all the items in a set.
  2. Trade items on BattleNet.
  3. Download a character editor and item files. Use the editor to load the indivitual set items into the character file. This is what I did with my Barbarian.

Forgot to mention that the best character editor which is compatible with all the PC versions contains all the set and unique items.
